SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) - Students at Cal State-San Marcos will spend time Tuesday and Thursday this week painting as a way to process their emotions in the wake of the school shooting in Parkland, Florida.They're making a pair of murals, in conjunction with the Art Miles Project.One mural features 17 peace signs, each with the name of one of the victims of the shooting. The other features a dove with 17 rays of color coming out of it, also honoring the victims.Organizers say it's their way to let the victims know they have support from all over. It also helps the people who are painting sort through their own emotions and grief."I see the healing power that it has," says Joanne Tawfilis, the Director of the Art Miles Project, which organizes the murals.She's been doing murals like this for 20 years. Every time there is a major shooting or natural disaster, she organizes a way for people to paint."It makes me feel good," she says. "But it also makes me feel sad that we’re in a state in the world that this violence continues."Over the last 20 years, the Art Miles Project has been involved in painting 5,000 murals in over 100 countries. All of the materials are donated.In addition to the two murals that students will paint at Cal State-San Marcos, Tawfilis says the public is invited to the Muramid Museum and Art Center this weekend to paint more. 1391

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Airbnb announced Thursday that it’s banning all parties and events at the listings on its website to comply with limits on gatherings during the coronavirus pandemic.The San Francisco-based company says the party ban applies to all future bookings on Airbnb and it will remain in effect indefinitely until further notice.Additionally, Airbnb says the occupancy at its listings will be capped at 16 people. Though, the company says it’s considering a potential exception process for specialty and traditional hospitality venues, like boutique hotels.“We also understand that 16 is not a magic number, and issues can occur with groups of any size,” wrote the company. “To be clear, we are not sanctioning smaller gatherings with this policy and all community members are expected to comply with local health restrictions on gatherings. We are capping guests at 16 in these large properties as one step amongst several, all designed to mitigate any efforts to misuse an Airbnb for a party.”Airbnb says guests will be informed about its party rules and told that they may be “legally pursued” by the company if they violate the policy.Unauthorized parties have actually always been prohibited at Airbnb listings and the company says 73% of its listings already ban them in their house rules.Over the last year or two, Airbnb has begun imposing stricter limits, starting with a global ban on “party houses,” or listings that create persistent neighborhood nuisance. And when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, a new policy was introduced that required all users to adhere to local coronavirus mandates.“However, in many large jurisdictions, public health mandates on gatherings have changed – and in some places swung back and forth in response to the changing rates of COVID cases – as have regulations on bars, clubs and pubs,” wrote Airbnb. “Some have chosen to take bar and club behavior to homes, sometimes rented through our platform. (KGTV) — One of the first Underwater Demolition Team divers of World War II and one of the last living frogmen died early October.Hank Weldon, 95, was a frogman on the first Navy Seal Team 10.  Donna Weldon was married to Weldon for 12 years, she tells 10News, “It’s been the most wonderful marriage you could ever imagine. He was the most wonderful person ever."Donna had one daughter, two sons and a few stepsons. Hank had three daughters. Together they created one large family. Two of his daughters talked with 10News Friday.RELATED: Filipino World War II veterans receive Congressional Gold Medals“I would stand on his feet and dance," Kathy Berg, Weldon's oldest daughter, said.Friday, the family remembered their best memories with their dad. "He was just my dad, he wasn’t a war hero, he wasn’t a good cop, he was just my dad. He didn’t talk about that at home," Terry Andrew, Weldon’s middle daughter, said.To his three daughters, it wasn’t until their adult lives they realized the impact their dad has made and the historic courage he had. “Articles started coming out about you know, what his place really was in the history,” Berg says. The frogmen would locate mines and notify ships coming in behind them so the ships wouldn’t hit them. After the war ended, he got out of the Navy in 1945. Six months after he got out, he received a letter telling him he was receiving a Bronze Star.His team was the only team that got through the whole series of operation without losing a man. Fifty years later Hank Weldon was inducted into the Green Berets, known officially as the U.S. Army Special Forces.When Weldon died, his wife got a call, “I got a phone call and it said we’d like to bury him in the national cemetery free of charge but I said no. We’ve had our places in Valley Center for some time and I really want him close to where I can go visit him."Weldon’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Skyline Clubhouse in Valley Center on Oct. 27 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The family has invited the public to join them.  2395
