BEIJING, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao has called on the country's enterprises to recruit more talents and strengthen research and innovation in order to facilitate the transition from "made in China" to "created in China."     Hu made the remarks during a two-day inspection to Zhuhai, a coastal city in China's southern economic hub of Guangdong Province, from Sunday to Monday. HEGANG, Heilongjiang, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from the deadly coal mine blast in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province has risen to 104, said local authorities early Monday morning.     Another four are still trapped in the shaft. Rescuers get ready to go down into the pit to search for survivors at the site of the accident at the Xinxing Coal Mine in Hegang City, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, on Nov. 22, 2009    The blast happened at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday at the Xinxing Coal Mine under the state-owned Heilongjiang Longmei Mining Holding Group's subsidiary in Hegang City. A total of 528 miners were working underground when the blast happened.

BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao has urged unswerving efforts to improve the building of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to secure the Party's role as the steel core of the country's leadership.     Hu, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, made the call at a group study of the members of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Friday.     With more than 75 million members and 3.7 million grassroots organizations, the CPC shoulders a tough task of Party building and management to lead the country's 1.3 billion people in economic and social development, Hu said.     To promote a democratic and scientific decision-making mechanism for the Party and government is a crucial task for the Party, he said.     In an era of great development and major transformation, Hu stressed, the CPC is facing long-term, complex and severe tests of challenges it would encounter as a ruling party in the process of reform, opening up, and implementation of market economy.     To improve Party building is also an urgent requirement of coping with the international financial crisis and maintaining the country's economic growth, Hu said.     He urged CPC organizations at all levels to promote organizational construction, improve regulations and fight against corruption.     The Party should also establish and improve an institutional system based on the Party's Constitution and the principles of democratic centralism...and ensure the Party's unity and strengthen the Party's vigor of innovation, Hu said.

BEIJING, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- China-U.S. relationship that by large was entering a period where our focus would be more and more on global issues, said U.S. Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman on Friday.     Huntsman made the remarks at the Forum for America/China Exchange at Stanford (FACES) in Peking University, a top university in China.     "Obama arrived and found what he had hoped for," he said relating to the U.S. President's just concluded China visit after reviewing the bilateral link chronicle.     U.S. and China could strengthen cooperation in areas including military, people to people exchanges, climate change, clean energy and economic crisis, Huntsman told the delegates attending the forum.     He said the U.S.-China relationship was so "large and complicated" that managers of the relations should "take the areas of commonality" and "realize and speak open" about the disagreements.     Huntsman, who once lived in Taiwan and could speak Chinese called Chinese the "21st century language", saying diplomacy is ineffective without "investing a generation of professionals willing to invest their careers in turn in language, culture, regional studies."     FACES, a forum held in Beijing from Nov.15-20, gathered more than forty students from China and the U.S to discuss political, social, economic and cultural issues.
