But it's the weird wonderful backstory that is so unforgettable. Alicia D'Amico and Rowena Merritt were preparing their Temple Terrace, Florida, home for the arrival of a foster child.They were on a local Buy Nothing Project Facebook page giving away free items from their house when they saw something interesting.A daughter, whose father had recently died from COVID-19, was giving away his impressive collection of Halloween decorations.They didn't know Bob Moyer or his family, but Alicia and Rowena love Halloween.Fans of the macabre holiday have each other's backs."We wanted to be able to carry on Bob's tradition, and bring his items to our home," says D'Amico, who also bought some new goodies of her own."Oh, it's a lot," laughs Merritt at the now-massive display. So this year's Halloween spectacle is in memory of Bob. The Ohio Department of Agriculture issued a warning about an insect that could kill wine in Ohio.The spotted lanternfly can cause significant damage to some plants and has been seen in Pennsylvania. According to the Department of Agriculture, the insect is fond of grape and fruit trees, hops, blueberry, oak, pine, poplar and walnut. Adult spotted lanterflies usually eat grapevines, while nymphs eat multiple types of plants. The insects eat stems and leaves, which can cause sap to bleed and reduce photosynthesis, which can eventually kill the plant.Spotted lanternflies can be spotted now through November. The insect can be identified by its red body, roughly a half-inch in size, with black stripes and white dots. Later this summer until November, the insect is in the adult moth stage. The adults are larger, roughly one inch in size, with black bodies and brightly colored wings.The insect has not been confirmed in Ohio yet but residents who believe they have spotted one are asked to report it online or by calling 614-728-640. A group of close to 20 people gathered at the Black Lives Matter mural in front of Cincinnati City Hall Tuesday night, sitting in the street.WCPO's crew on the scene said it appeared that red paint had been poured on the mural.Right now, it is unknown who defaced the mural that was painted on Plum Street between Eighth and Ninth Streets by local artists almost a month ago.The Cincinnati Police are looking into the incident -- they're asking anyone with any information to call Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040.
