The toy run in December is usually one of the big ways Children's Hospital Colorado gets donated toys. But because of COVID-19, the supply of toys is down considerably. So the hospital reached out to some riders, and Sunday, they got a special delivery to help replenish that supply.Kids at Children's Hospital know when they hear those Harley engines roar, toys are on the way."Any motorcycles coming up to the hospital, the kids plaster themselves the windows. They love to see the bikes riding up," volunteer Bob Cuculich said."That's why we do it. It's things like this that make it all worthwhile," organizer Eddie Dane said.But it's not December when this toy run usually happens."Because of COVID this year, the hospital reached out to Rocky Mountain Harley Davidson, because we're a sponsor to the toy run and have been for years," Dane said.Dozens of bikers answered the last minute call to help."They're not reusing toys. So we are are going to replenish their supply and do the best we can to get them some more toys to last them until December," Dane said.They didn't know how many bikers would show. They just knew they needed to try to help the kids."There's a huge need," Cuculich said.But the roars were there, filling up the bins, and they hope more toys can be brought. Just no stuffed animals right now."Plush toys right now, they are just too hard to keep clean, and infection control just makes it a challenge to be able to give those to the kids," Cuculich added.The bikers hope this special delivery makes the kids happy and lasts until the main ride in December. The travel industry is trying new tactics to recover from financial stress. Experts say new deals are emerging that allow people to go on a trip of their dreams through 2022."We quickly realized that the number one factor that helped incentivize travel planning, travel booking, even for 12 to 18 months down the road was this high sense of flexibility, and so, we came up with this concept of putting out and working with hundreds of thousands of travel partners to really come up with these very attractive, aggressively-priced offers, explained Gabe Saglie, senior editor of Travelzoo, a company that facilities travel deals around the world. “But they are fully refundable, and they had these very long travel windows.”Saglie says when COVID-19 hit, the industry came to a screeching halt. But through surveys of its 15 million members, Travelzoo soon found people were still willing to book, but mostly for future trips and not just any trip."People are looking not just to travel, but travel in a memorable way, a special way. So, we’ve been putting out these offers that in some cases are destinations that pre-COVID may not have been on people’s radar. Sort of far-flung bucket-list destinations," said Saglie.Aran Campas, the co-founder of the social media travel site Travevel, says the pent-up demand for travel is showing in different ways."We're seeing two extremes. When we look in groups, forums, different areas, we have the people that are like, 'I’m going now. I’m tired of being trapped. I’m not worried about it, I’m going now. I’m going to wear my mask,’ and then, we have the people who are like, 'Oh, I just booked for 2022 or 2023,'" explained Campas.Campas says pre-pandemic, people generally booked a year or less in advance. Now, they're seeing people either book a trip in the next 30 days or two years from now."What I think it is, I don't think it's so much the flexibility, I think it's let's get someone to book," said Campas.Travelzoo says the help in cashflow is certainly good for the longevity of the industry."There is this infusion of traveler cash now that is helping a lot of these companies. A lot of our travel partners that are looking to employ as many employees on the books as possible, bring back as many employees as quickly as possible. That’s certainly an infusion that’s important, as it helps the industry navigate through these next couple of months until we’re on the other side of this," said Saglie.So, how long will these flexible travel deals be around? Experts aren't too sure.As soon as life gets back to normal and regular travel resumes, the deals could be gone. But if you're wanting to book these deals and possibly change the dates later, Travevel says pay attention to the fine print as some may increase the prices if you adjust your date of travel. 2824

The Republican National Committee spent over 4,000 at Trump properties in the first two months of 2018, according to Federal Election Commission documents.In just February, according to FEC documents made public Tuesday, the RNC spent more than 1,000 on venue rental and catering at Trump properties in Florida and Washington, DC.FEC filings also show that starting in September 2017, the RNC has paid ,000 monthly to rent space in Trump Tower for the Trump campaign, totaling over 5,000 so far.The 1,000 is about 86% of the committee's entire spending on venue rental and catering for the month, and more than the committee has spent in a single month at a Trump property since the beginning of 2017. Overall, 14% of RNC spending on venue rental and catering has gone to Trump properties since the beginning of 2017.After he was elected President, Donald Trump placed his business into a trust controlled by his adult sons, Don Jr. and Eric, but did not liquidate his holdings or let an independent manager handle the trust without his knowledge -- the approach favored by past presidents and by ethics experts because it separates the president's personal profit motive from his decisions on behalf of the government.The arrangement has drawn criticism from ethics watchdogs, who say it allows for the appearance of a conflict of interest.An RNC official said donors enjoy visiting Trump properties, and also pointed to security, convenience and price as factors in the committee's decision-making. The official added that Trump properties are often cheaper to rent than other venues, noting that the FEC demands the RNC receive market rates.RNC spending at Trump properties in 2018 is up significantly from the previous year; the committee spent just over 2,000 on venue rental and catering at Trump properties in all of 2017.
