SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Sheriff's Department says deputies arrested a wanted man on Sunday who was openly carrying a loaded rifle in the East County.Lakeside deputies were called after witnesses reported a man walking around with a loaded M4 rifle around his chest, according to the department. Deputies responded and took the man and his weapon into custody. SDSO said the man was a wanted parolee and that he had a felony warrant stemming from a case involving an assault with a deadly weapon.It is also illegal for a convicted felon to be in possession of a firearm in California, the department added.The parolee's identity was not released. 658

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego police responded Sunday to a deadly shooting the Rolando area.According to police, the incident happened at El Cajon Boulevard and 73rd Street after 12 p.m. Officers received a call of a single-vehicle crash.Police arrived to find paramedics treating a 35-year-old man who had been driving the vehicle suffering from life-threatening injuries to his torso. The injuries, however, were not from the crash, SDPD said.The man was taken to a nearby hospital but died of his injuries. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Since a movie theater was first added to Horton Plaza in 1985, San Diegans downtown have had cinema options at their fingertips.That is, until the plaza fell on tough times, as business slowed and patrons gained more options for retail and entertainment downtown.The trend has now reached the plaza's Regal movie theater, which closed its doors this year. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Saturday marked the first weekend San Diego County restaurants were under indoor dining restrictions and they've gotten creative to stay afloat during the pandemic.Monday the Governor announced San Diego County joined the state's watch list due to the spike in coronavirus cases.The county announced bars, restaurants, wineries, movie theaters, zoos, museums, and cardrooms will need to shutter indoor operations Monday night at midnight.Saturday on Harbor Island, Coasterra debuted a "pop up" dining experience on their 'float' that normally hosts events.Executive Chef and Partner in the Cohn Restaurant Group, Deborah Scott thought their event space on the water (dubbed The Float) was a perfect place for extra seating. Their sister restaurant Island Prime had to close it's doors, due to the new restrictions.So the Island Prime, moved to an island.On the 'float' they can seat up to 68 people, that's 68 plates that Island Prime can now sell at a time. Scott said they were booked Saturday, their first official night, but are not filling it to capacity.She said they want to make sure things run smoothly."My biggest fear is that everyone is going to come out here and have dinner and go, 'Can you just move Island Prime out here?'" She said chuckling.
