(KGTV) — A vintage-looking license plate didn't fool a Southern California officer in Moorpark.A Moorpark Police officer recently pulled over a tractor-trailer to conduct a traffic stop for a false license plate, the Ventura County Sheriff's Department said in a release Monday. The plate appeared to be designed after California's 1960s vintage plates — though with some obvious differences.Instead of "California" the plate read "Califas." The plate's lettering also appeared uneven.During the traffic stop, the driver of the truck appeared to be under the influence, the sheriff's department says. The motorcycle officer's assumption turned out to be correct, the department said, as the driver was arrested for being under the influence, possession of methamphetamine, being an unlicensed driver, and having an active arrest warrant.Authorities ended up towing the truck, as well, citing it was unsafe to drive, the department said. 944

It's becoming such a problem that Dr. Rebecca Nee devotes an entire lecture to it at San Diego State. "Teachers and professors can sometimes be forgiving," said Dr. Nee. "But most employers are not."Last month, a woman was fired from Panera Bread after a video revealing the secret to making their mac n' cheese went viral. Two weeks earlier, a man dominated the internet when he made a sign asking for beer money on ESPN's College GameDay. The instant fame quickly turned into backlash after so-called racist tweets he sent eight years ago came to light. In a world always online, could you be next?"It can keep you from getting a job; it can keep you from the career of your dreams," said Dr. Nee. In San Diego, a man had identity concerns when he was falsely accused of felony grand theft. The District Attorney claimed he and other employees used stolen credit cards to buy merchandise from a Go Wireless store at the UTC mall. It turned out that Go Wireless mixed him up with another man by the same name. He was booked, fingerprinted and DNA tested before the case was dismissed. "I barely even see my son now, and the last thing I wanted to do was go to jail and not even see him at all."But the damage to his reputation was already done with information online that may last forever. And it happens all the time. That's where the company Reputation Defender comes in. "People are really confused about information that's out there on the internet about them," said CEO Rich Matta. (KGTV) -- A suspect in the freeway shooting death of a San Diego man was arrested following a standoff at a San Diego hotel, California Highway Patrol officials announced Monday.Vincent Dulay Deguzman Jr. faces charges in connection with the June 7 death of 47-year-old San Diego resident Jessie Garcia Sr., CHP officials said.According to the CHP, on June 7, Deguzman and Garcia were in a Kia Altima on southbound Interstate 5 in Irvine when Deguzman, who was behind the wheel, allegedly shot Garcia and then abandoned the rental car south of Culver Drive, where it was found on the shoulder with the body next to the vehicle at around 7:33 a.m.On June 11, CHP investigators identified Deguzman as the suspect in the case and obtained a warrant for his arrest.Investigators collaborated with the San Diego Fugitive Task Force and tracked Deguzman to a Hilton Garden Inn in San Diego.CHP officials said, “Deguzman barricaded himself inside a hotel room and a stand-of ensued.”Deguzman eventually surrendered without incident and was taken into custody.Deguzman was booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of murder and being held without bail.CHP officials did not release any information on a possible motive in the case. 1234
