"I got caught up in in the system doing the wrong things which got me to be kicked out of school in the 9th grade. Resorted to drugs, abusing alcohol.”Banks fought to get his life on track. He earned his GED and college degree. He's now a teacher.Banks started Balanced Living Mentorship. He works with young people, many members of the Pahokee High School football team, to teach them about life.“I believe every kid needs a balanced life outside of football. If you don’t have grades, you can’t go on to the next level,” Banks said.“He’s teaching us to be a better person in life, not just for football,” said Pahokee football player Albert Johnson Jr.Like many who take part in the mentoring program, Johnson Jr. has NFL aspirations, but he also dreams of owning his own tech company one day.“Like they say, the NFL is not for long. And there are a few people who make it the NFL,” he said."Once football is all said and done, what do you want to be? Who do you want to be?” head coach DJ Boldin asked his players during a mentoring session."It’s good to know that there is a generation that is starting to realize that, so they won’t feel like football is the end all be all,” Boldin said.Football will always be a big part of Pahokee’s makeup, but Banks wants the makeup of those who play it to be so much more than that. 2208

OTAY MESA, Calif. (KGTV) - Eight border wall prototypes constructed in South San Diego County are in the process of being dismantled Wednesday, according to Customs and Border Protection officials. "At this point, we have learned a lot from them, but we don't necessarily have a purpose or use for them anymore, and we will be bringing them down," a CBP official told CNN. The prototypes, which stand 30 feet tall, are in the path of the secondary border fence project, a Border Patrol source told 10News. The Department of Homeland Security hired companies to build the prototypes, which were finished in October 2017. Over two months, Customs and Border Protection officials tested the walls using power tools, hand tools, and other methods. The CBP evaluated the prototypes to determine if anyone could get through by climbing or digging. PHOENIX, AZ — An Arizona family is searching for a U.S. Marine who left for Camp Pendleton on Monday but never arrived at the base.Lance Cpl. Job Wallace, 20, was last seen leaving a friend's house in Surprise, Arizona, between 8:30 and 9 p.m. Monday, his mother, Stacy Wallace, said. He loves the Marines, was recently promoted and was excited to get back to Pendleton after a three-day leave that took him home to the suburbs west of Phoenix and a camping trip. "He got into several colleges and missed scholarship opportunities just so that he could be a Marine, because he felt it was his duty to serve his country," Wallace said. Wallace said law enforcement officials told her that her son's phone was last pinged Monday night in Arizona. But a Border Patrol camera spotted his truck the next morning traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 near Fort Hancock, Texas, southeast of El Paso. A Surprise police spokesman says officers took a report and have turned the matter over to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. "NCIS and our partners are working diligently to locate Lance Cpl.
