SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Firefighters were able to extinguish a brush fire they believe was sparked by an unknown group in City Heights Wednesday. According to San Diego Fire-Rescue, the blaze started in a canyon on the 3200 block of 42nd Street around 1:30 p.m.Crews were quickly able to stop the fire’s forward rate of spread while firefighters remained on scene to ensure there were no hot spots. No one was injured and no structures damaged, but the blaze did scorch an acre of land. Video sent to 10News shows residents in the area spraying water throughout their yards as flames crept up the nearby canyon. The metro arson strike team ruled the fire arson after witnesses said "juveniles were seen in the canyon before the fire started." 746

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Governor Gavin Newsom and the state Attorney General California officials served a cease-and-desist letter to two San Diego strip clubs operating amid the state's stay-at-home order.The letter to the attorneys representing Pacers Showgirls and Cheetahs Gentleman's Club said the state has been informed the locations are operating indoors despite restrictions forcing restaurants to offer only take-out and delivery services under the order.The letter was sent by state Attorney General Xavier Becerra on behalf of Governor Gavin Newsom and the Department of Public Health."We are informed and believe that MIDWAY AND F-12 are continuing to conduct indoor operations notwithstanding the Regional Stay at Home Order currently in effect in the County of San Diego. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Extended construction work next to Friars Road has drivers wondering when the Mission Valley street will be back to normal.What is normally a four-lane road is now two, as SANDAG completes an million project. Crews are taking out a bridge with one track on it and replacing it with three bridges and four tracks. Two tracks will serve the Coaster and heavy freight trains. The other tracks are for the blue line trolley to La Jolla. “Every day that I have to pass this, it's just an eyesore,” said Katherine Whitley, who has spent two years driving through construction. “It clogs traffic. Everybody knows Friars Road has grown and grown and this isn't the right place for this to be.”RELATED: Gas main break prompts SR-163 closure in Mission ValleyBicyclists are also concerned about construction danger.“The cars going that way are passing me going 55 miles an hour about three feet away from me. So it feels pretty sketchy,” said Greg Zackowski.SANDAG said it is doing everything it can to minimize the impact of construction.
