The Airport Authority is investigating an ‘unusual substance’ found in some soap dispensers at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport.DTW and the Airport Authority released this brief statement: “Our Public Safety Department is investigating an unusual substance found in a few of our soap dispensers during the last week. The Airport Authority takes incidents involving health and safety very seriously. Tempe, Arizona police are investigating a deadly crash involving a self-driving Uber vehicle early Monday morning.  The Uber vehicle was reportedly headed northbound when a woman walking outside of the crosswalk was struck. The woman, identified as 49-year-old Elaine Herzberg, was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries.Tempe Police says the vehicle was in autonomous mode at the time of the crash and a vehicle operator was also behind the wheel. No passengers were in the vehicle at the time. An Uber spokesperson said they are aware of the incident and are cooperating with authorities.They released the following statement: "Our hearts go out to the victim’s family. We are fully cooperating with local authorities in their investigation of this incident."Uber's CEO Dara Khosrowshahi also acknowledged the incident on Twitter: 906

The American Academy of Pediatrics is clarifying their stance on reopening schools this fall, pushing for science-based decisions and calling on Congress to provide necessary federal funding for campuses to reopen safely.The AAP, joining together with the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), National Education Association (NEA) and AASA, The School Superintendents Association, said they share the desire to welcome children back to schools this fall, however safety concerns must be considered.“Returning to school is important for the healthy development and well-being of children, but we must pursue re-opening in a way that is safe for all students, teachers and staff. Science should drive decision-making on safely reopening schools. Texas Southern University in Houston evacuated its campus on Wednesday due to a bomb threat received by the Houston Police Department directed at the university. The university announced on its social media channels that all classes are canceled for the rest of the day, and that all students, faculty and employees should evacuate campus. Houston Police said it received the threat via its emergency call center around 1:40 p.m. CT on Wednesday. As of late Wednesday afternoon, there have not been any confirmed bombs found on campus. Texas Southern is a public historically black university with an enrollment of nearly 10,000. 667

The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board then determined that Kaavan be moved to an elephant sanctuary in Cambodia.On Monday, through the Eric S. Margolis Foundation, who donated the Kaavan’s flight, the elephant was transported from Pakistan to Cambodia. According to the animal welfare organization, Four Paws, the flight went smoothly, and Kaavan even slept during the trip. 1001
