Orange County Superior Court Judge Gregory Jones on Friday said he was rejecting a bid by prosecutors to drop the case. He set a hearing for June 12 to determine how to proceed. NEW YORK (KGTV) -- An explosion in Queens, New York turned the sky an eerie shade of blue Thursday night. Video posted on social media shows the sky glowing a light blue color as an explosion could be seen off in the distance. WABC reported that the incident was caused by a transformer explosion at a power plant. Utility company Con Edison spokesman Bob McGee told the Associated Press what happened was an "arc flash" — somewhat like a bolt of lightning — after a malfunction in equipment that carries 138,000 volts of electricity 20 feet (6 meters) up in the air. He said the flash subsided on its own.The incident sparked a power outage at LaGuardia Airport, forcing the FAA to issue a ground stop. New York City police officers shot and killed a black man Wednesday after he pointed what they believed was a gun at them, authorities said.After the shooting, officers discovered the man was holding "a pipe with some sort of knob on it," Chief of Department Terence A. NEW YORK (AP) — Apple has dropped the hugely popular "Fortnite" game from its App Store after the game's developer introduced a direct payment plan that bypasses Apple's platform. Apple takes a 30% cut from in-app revenue purchases, which has long been a sore spot with developers. "Fortnite" is free, but users can pay for in-game accouterments like weapons and skins. The game's developer, Epic Games, said in a blog post it was introducing Epic Direct payments, a direct-payment plan for Apple's iOS and Google Play that bypasses the App Store.
