SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – There’s a hidden gem right off the I-5 freeway in Mission Hills that took over 20 years to create. “It’s just been a wonderful thing,” said Edna Harper, designer of Harper’s Topiary Garden. Her garden sits on the massive hillside of her home and has been attracting visitors for years. More than 50 whimsical characters are featured, each one inspired by Harper’s world travels. The project started as a bet between Harper and her husband."My husband said to me, 'Oh, I don't think you can do this,'" Harper said. "He didn't know how much it was gonna cost him ... he said, 'alright if you win, I'll pay for the gardener and the water.'" The garden has become her canvas and a place for your imagination to run wild. “Whatever you want it to be, that’s what my garden is,” Harper said. “It makes people happy, and that makes me happy.” If you decide to visit the property off Vine and Union in Mission Hills, the owners ask that you don’t climb or destroy the plans. (CNN) -- A stowaway fell from a plane flying over London and dropped into a residential garden on Sunday, just feet from a sunbathing man, according to reports.The body was traced to the undercarriage of Kenya Airways flight KQ 100 that left from Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Kenya Airports Authority said in a statement Tuesday, adding that it is investigating the incident.London's Metropolitan Police said Monday that the victim appeared to have fallen from the landing gear compartment as the plane approached London's Heathrow Airport.One neighbor described hearing a "whomp" as the body hit the ground, the UK's Press Association (PA) news agency reported."He had all of his clothes on and everything. Participants lined up to meet the man many saw in the movie, Akeelah and the Bee, and who records the words many of them have studied.“It's really kind of an honor that they all come here, and they think I’m, you know, somebody famous and interesting to meet,” says Dr. Bailly. “We're here to honor them.”Dr. Bailly has a keen understanding of what the spellers are going through.He won the Bee in 1980 and has some tips for spellers taking the stage.“The way to spell a word you don't know: you spell it the way it sounds,” he advises. “Don't make a fancy guess. Don't assume there's a silent ‘Q’ because there aren't very many of those you know just felt the way it sounds. That's kind of the best guess.”His advice for beating the jitters?“I think a deep breath is one of the best things,” he says. “It's just, you know, to feel free, to get up there and go.
