SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A young man was trapped in his car after a crash on southbound Interstate 15 at I-805 Monday afternoon.The solo-vehicle crash happened about 1:30 p.m. The man went off the freeway and into a tree, leaving his car a mangled wreck.San Diego Fire Captain Steve Salasz described the rescue as a “complicated effort”.Several firefighters used saws to free the man, whose foot was stuck in a floorboard.The man, who was alert and talking during the rescue, was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital for treatment.There was no word on his condition but Salasz described his injuries as “severe”.Investigators did not release the cause of the crash. 662

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An argument between two women turned violent when one stabbed the other with a box cutter Saturday afternoon in Mt. Hope, San Diego Police said.A 27-year-old woman was taken to the hospital, along with her 16-year-old brother. Her brother was also stabbed when he tried to intervene in the fight and defend his sister. Both are expected to recover from their injuries, police said.The suspect left the area, near 41st Street and Hilltop Drive, driving a white Toyota Solara with a tan roof, according to witnesses. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A showdown is brewing between two San Diego County supervisors about the reopening of the local economy amid the coronavirus pandemic.In a video on his Twitter account, Supervisor Jim Desmond said current California metrics make it impossible for the county to full reopen.During a Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, Desmond plans to ask the county to not follow the state’s tier system, which determines when more businesses can reopen.Desmond said on Twitter: “San Diego has been backed into a corner. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An autopsy performed on the teenager known as McSkillet is providing details about his mental state before he crashed his McLaren on Interstate 805 in San Diego, killing a mother and daughter.Trevor Heitmann, 18, died on August 23 when he drove the wrong way on the freeway in University City at 100 miles an hour. Heitmann’s sports car crashed into an SUV, killing Aileen Pizarro, 43, and her 12-year-old daughter Aryana. The California Highway Patrol reported that video of the impact shows Heitmann did not attempt to swerve before hitting the SUV.The San Diego County Medical Examiner said Heitmann suffered 11 types of blunt force injuries in the crash. Toxicology tests did not detect any alcohol or common drugs, doctors said. Heitmann's death was ruled accidental by officials. He was banned earlier this year from trading skins with other players by the video game's developer, Valve. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A suspect was arrested Sunday morning after reportedly stealing someone’s car and stabbing the owner who tried to prevent the theft.According to police, the incident happened around 9:10 a.m. on the 2800 block of Jarvis Street in Point Loma.When the owner of the car tried to stop the man, the suspect stabbed the victim.
