Two moms wanted a safe place to get their young children involved in the protests calling for police reform and racial equality. So, they created a group called Tiny Activists ATL, where their children could speak out in their own way.“We are tiny people, demanding for a change,” said Addison Carroll, who isn’t even 10 years old yet.“We just want to make our voices heard,” said tiny activist Sawyer Tinguely. These pint-sized protestors have a big mission. “We want to see that everybody can be treated equal so that everyone can make a change,” said Carroll of speaking out about voting rights. From marching the streets to going to the polls, these future voters understand how the system works. Even though they’re not of age yet, they want to be involved.“What Black Lives Matter means to me is that black people can go outside and not feel bad because of the way they look,” said Carroll.“It means that all lives are equal. All people are the same,” said 7-year-old Tinguely. These kids want reform, especially after the death of George Floyd.“What I saw on that video was horrible,” said Carroll. When asked how watching the video of George Floyd’s arrest made her feel, Carroll stated, "Betrayed. Police officers are supposed to protect us, not harm us."“I think it’s pretty rude of that person who killed him to be mean to him just because he used counterfeit money,” said Tinguely. The group gathers each weekend, and their youthful activities, like drawing with chalk or making signs, comes with a discussion about real-life issues facing families today. “We’re planning to go to more protests. We’ve already been to like 10 so far. It’s actually pretty fun,” said Sawyer.“Our goal is to get our kids educated,” said mom Mary Williams. Williams and fellow Atlanta mother of three, Fran Carroll, started the group to make sure their children understood the unrest happening in their community.“This is what we stand for as a family,” said Fran Carroll. “This is the side we’re choosing to stand on in history. We’re going to stand on the right side."If these tiny activists can teach us anything it’s simple: standing up for what you believe is has no height requirement, and wisdom doesn’t always come with age.“A person any age could just change the world,” said Tinguely.Carroll and Williams hope their families and this group will inspire others around the country to do the same with the young kids in their neighborhood. 2442

Twenty-one people have received some form of treatment in connection with the attempted assassination of a former Russian spy and his daughter with a nerve agent in England, though only three remain in a hospital, a police official told Britain's Sky News on Thursday. The three are former Russian spy Sergei Skripal; his daughter, Yulia; and Detective Sgt. Nick Bailey, said Kier Pritchard, temporary chief constable of Wiltshire police.Regarding the others, Pritchard told Sky News they've been "through the hospital treatment process, there have been blood tests and they're having treatment in terms of support and advice."Police confirmed Wednesday that a nerve agent was used in the attack in the southern city of Salisbury on Skripal and his daughter, Yulia, who remain in critical but stable condition.Western intelligence views Russia as a leading suspect, based on previous attacks using a similar substance and method, a Western intelligence official told CNN. The official cautioned that it is still early in the investigation. In a statement to members of Parliament, UK Home Secretary Amber Rudd refused to be drawn on who might have been responsible."The use of a nerve agent on UK soil is a brazen and reckless act -- this was attempted murder in the most cruel and public way," Rudd said."People are right to want to know who to hold to account but if we are to be rigorous in this investigation we must avoid speculation and allow the police to carry on their investigation."Rudd said the UK government was committed to "doing whatever we can to bring the perpetrators to justice" and would "act without hesitation as the facts become clearer."Skripal, 66, and Yulia, 33, were found slumped Sunday on a bench near a shopping center. A police officer who helped them was also exposed to the nerve agent but his condition has improved. That officer is Bailey, according to Wiltshire police spokeswoman Emma Morton.Earlier Thursday, Rudd said that Skripal and his daughter were in a "very serious condition" but that the policeman was "talking and engaging." Police: Pair 'deliberately targeted' 2121

UPDATE: 9:15 P.M.A man has been taken into custody after an hours-long standoff with officers at a Hillcrest rehabilitation center.SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police Department officers are surrounding a Hillcrest neighborhood Saturday working to peacefully end a standoff with a person believed to be armed.According to SDPD's official Twitter page, the incident started around 4 p.m. after receiving reports about a man with a gun in the 4000 block of Sixth Avenue, east of Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego.Police told 10News that around 4 p.m., an employee of the Hillcrest Health and Rehabilitation Center found a homeless man showering in a facility bathroom-laundry room. The man barricaded himself in the bathroom and has refused to speak with police. He has also vandalized the room using a fire extinguisher. The room is isolated away from the rest of the rehabilitation center, so patients there have not been evacuated but are being told to shelter in place.Police have called on the department's Emergency Negotiating Team and a SWAT team to assist with the incident. 1087
