A suburban Chicago police officer responding Sunday to a shooting at a bar killed a security guard who was just "doing his job," an attorney for the victim's family said.An officer from Midlothian, a Chicago suburb, fatally shot Jemel Roberson, a 26-year-old security guard working at the bar, Cook County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Sophia Ansari told CNN.Several law enforcement agencies responded to the shooting around 4 a.m. at Manny's Blue Room Lounge in Robbins, about 20 miles south of Chicago, Ansari said. A mother charged with killing her two young sons by placing them in an oven and turning it on was expected to appear in court on Monday but was not at the appearance.Investigators say 24 year-old Lamora Williams put her sons, ages two and one, into an oven and turned it on. The toddlers, 1-year-old Jakarter Penn and 2-year-old Keyounte Penn, had burns on their bodies when police found them at the Oakland City West End Apartments in Atlanta.Lamora Williams' family said she struggled most of her life with mental issues and may have been dealing with postpartum at the time of the incident.It’s a tragedy which her sister thinks could have been prevented.“She had issues and the fact that the state failed her, that’s a problem,” said Tabitha Hollingworth.Plus, family say the writing was on the wall. She routinely left her children home alone and had even attempted to cut her wrists.Wearing dark sunglasses to hide her tears, Brenda Williams is saddened, but not surprised that her daughter is now charged with murder.“Mora wasn’t right, she hasn’t been right and what happened three months ago, that the kids father left her, I told him something tragic is going to happen. She’s going to do something to those kids, she’s going to do something to herself,” said Brenda Williams.Williams is charged with two counts of murder and one count of cruelty to children in the first degree. A Marine lance corporal who marched at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia last year has been kicked out of the service after he spent nearly a month jail.According to the Jacksonville Daily News in Jacksonville, North Carolina, Vasillios Pistolis, 19, was discharged from duty and kicked out of the Marine Corps on July 11. Pistolis was court-martialed on June 18 for an investigation into violations of Articles 92 and 107 of the Uniform of Military Justice.Among the violations covered in those articles are making "false statements," "failure to obey orders or regulations" and "dereliction of duty."Pistolis was sentenced to 28 days in confinement in the brig, a forfeiture of some of his paycheck and a reduction of rank.ProPublica and Frontline reported in June that Pistolis marched at the "Unite The Right" rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. At that rally, one counter-protester was killed when James Alex Fields drove his car into a crowd.ProPublica and Frontline's report also alleged that Pistolis was a member of a known white supremacist and neo-Nazi group.   1156

A top JPMorgan Chase executive is warning that stocks could fall as much as 40% in the next few years.Daniel Pinto, JPMorgan's co-president, said during an interview on Bloomberg Television Thursday that he believes market gains should continue for the next year or two. But he added that investors are nervous, and that the recent announcement about tariffs and trade wars contribute to their unease."Markets are going to be nervous, nervous about anything. Nervous about anything that relates to inflation, nervous about anything that relates to growth," he said. A Pennsylvania man is facing criminal charges for allegedly requesting and casting ballots for dead relatives.The Delaware County District Attorney announced the charges against Bruce Bartman Monday.“We are charging him today with two counts of perjury for making false statements to register two deceased individuals who are his relatives both his mother and his mother-in-law. He made false statements through the state’s assure system to register them as voters and he’s also charged with making an unlawful vote because he actually submitted an absentee ballot for his deceased mother, a ballot that was counted,” District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer said at a press conference.Stollsteimer says both women were registered as Republicans and Bartman told investigators he had done so to help reelect Donald Trump.Bartman reportedly used the driver’s license number for his mother, who died more than a decade ago, and was able to obtain a ballot.Prosecutors say he used his mother-in-law’s social security number to register her for the general election, and the system returned a deceased record for her prompting the state to send a confirmation letter to the address to confirm the information, according to WPVI.Stollsteimer’s office says Bartman falsified this confirmation letter and returned it to register his mother-in-law to vote. He did not obtain a ballot in her name, according to prosecutors.“In his political frustration, he chose to do something stupid,” Bartman’s lawyer, Samuel Stretton told the Philadelphia Inquirer. “And for that he is very sorry.”Stollsteimer said there was no evidence of widespread voter fraud in Delaware County and this was the only case of voter fraud during this election his office has encountered. However, they have had scores of leads investigators have followed up on.Investigators said rumors on social media about a dead voter in Delaware County led to a complaint filed with the county’s Board of Elections. A task force followed up and found evidence of a crime, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.This incident is the third instance of reported voter fraud in Pennsylvania since the election last month, the Inquirer reported.Previous reports include a man who cast two ballots on Election Day, one for himself and one in the name of his son, and of a man who allegedly applied for a ballot for his dead mother.
