The man suspected of sending 14 pipe bombs to prominent Democrats around the country will be formally charged in court Monday.Cesar Sayoc, 56, of Aventura, Florida, is facing federal charges and could receive up to 48 years in prison if convicted.As of Friday, authorities had intercepted 14 packages Sayoc sent through the US mail system, officials said. None of the devices detonated, and no one was injured. The Pennsylvania Department of Health is encouraging people who were at President Donald Trump’s campaign rally at Harrisburg International Airport on Saturday to get tested if they are feeling sick.Trump announced earlier Friday that he and the first lady have tested positive for the coronavirus.The department is asking people to download the COVID Alert PA phone app if they do test positive to anonymously alert people they may have come in contact with.Thousands attended the outdoor rally, held hours after the president introduced his Supreme Court nominee, Amy Coney Barrett, from the Rose Garden at the White House. Those at the rally were required to pass through a security checkpoint and get their temperatures taken.The president had another rally in the last week, on Wednesday in Duluth, Minnesota. Three Republicans boarded Air Force One in the Twin Cities and flew with the president to the Duluth rally location. Two of them, Congressman Tom Emmer and Congressman Jim Hagedorn, told local media they are taking a COVID-19 test after possible exposure to the president or a member of his team. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court released new congressional district lines Monday, replacing the old Republican-drawn maps in time for the state's May primary.House Republican and Democratic operatives said Monday afternoon they are still analyzing the partisan makeup of the new districts.But in a swing state where Republicans hold 13 House seats to Democrats' five, the balance appears all but certain to tip in Democrats' direction.The biggest changes come in the Philadelphia suburbs, where three Republican-held seats -- Reps. Ryan Costello, Brian Fitzpatrick and the retiring Pat Meehan -- were already Democratic targets.The new maps appear more compact and suburban than the existing district boundaries and an alternative that state legislative Republicans had submitted -- and one of those districts is now made up of just Montgomery County, a Democratic stronghold that the GOP had proposed dividing heavily.Republicans in the Pennsylvania legislature have said they intend to challenge the new maps in federal court. The Louisville Metro police department has fired one of the police officers involved in the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor. A termination letter for Officer Brett Hankison released by the city’s police department today said Hankinson violated procedures by showing “extreme indifference to the value of human life." The letter also said Hankinson violated the rule against using deadly force. Taylor, who was Black, was shot eight times by officers who burst into her Louisville home using a no-knock warrant during a March 13 narcotics investigation. Two other officers remain on administrative reassignment while the shooting is investigated.Taylor, who was employed as an EMT, was inside of her home when police conducted a “no-knock raid” on her home. Thinking the police officers were intruders, Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, allegedly shot at police.Louisville Metro Police officers returned fire, striking and killing Taylor.Walker was originally arrested for firing at police, but later was released. 1024
