XIAMEN, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislator, Wu Bangguo, has issued a call for more efforts to create greater awareness among the public on thriftiness and environmental protection.
It received 7 million yuan (about 1.12 million U.S. dollars) from the China Association of Poverty Alleviation and Development, a sum with which it purchased a shipment of machines and set up a sand-processing factory, according to Kunchok Phutso.
"The performance of this electric car matches that of a petrol vehicle with a 1.8-liter engine," said Xu Weihan, who is in charge of BEV sales at Tzgev Limited, a company specializing in new energy vehicles.
Meanwhile, the Upstream Ayeyawady Confluence Basin Hydropower Co, Ltd (ACHC) also donated 25 tons of relief supplies including purified drinking water and food worth 15,000,000 Kyats (about 18, 000 U.S. dollars) to the Myanmar Red Cross Societies of Mandalay.
The implementation of the new standard is expected to reduce automobile emissions, particularly fine particles that are known to be more hazardous, Fang said.
