BEIJING, April 4 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin met visiting Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhom in Beijing Sunday.Jia, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, hailed the friendship between the two countries and the development of bilateral ties since diplomatic relations were forged in 1975.During the 40-min meeting in the Great Hall of the People, Sirindhom spoke highly of China's economic and social development, pledging to further promote bilateral ties.In a separate meeting with Sirindhom Sunday evening, Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong thanked Sirindhom for her donation of 10 million yuan (1.5 million U.S. dollars), which was used to rebuild an elementary school in earthquake-hit Sichuan Province. ASTANA, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Defense ministers of China and Kazakhstan agreed Friday to upgrade cooperation of the two militaries to a new level.At a meeting with his Kazakh counterpart, Adilbek Dzhaksybekov, visiting Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie recalled the smooth growth of the bilateral cooperative relationship since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Kazakhstan, including frequent top-level exchanges, deepening of political trust, and expansion of cooperation in all aspects.He recalled frequent meetings between Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Kazakh counterpart, Nursultan Nazarbayev. The two leaders held in-depth discussions on how to further bilateral strategic partnership, thus continuously adding new momentum and providing guidance to the development of bilateral ties.Liang said military-to-military relationship is a key part of overall bilateral relations. Supported by leaders of both nations, relations between the two militaries have been growing steadily while leaders of both militaries have maintained frequent contacts on bilateral and multilateral occasions. BEIJING, May 17 (Xinhua) -- China's disciplinary watchdog has released a set of rules outlining punishment for Party members in leading positions meddling in the real estate industry, in an effort to uproot corruption in the field.The rules, issued by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China (CPC), say "meddling in construction-related fields" refers to officials abusing their power by directly or indirectly asking departments to affect construction projects' normal procedures.Such acts include meddling in projects' decision-making process, public bidding and approval of transfer of land use.The construction sector is susceptible to corruption.
