Despite multiple reports suggesting that the hit sitcom "Friends" would be dropped from Netflix's lineup on Jan. 1, Netflix announced on Monday that the sitcom will remain a part of Netflix's lineup through 2019. Talk about a pivot!The speculation was fueled by a notice on "Friends'" Netflix page that said the sitcom would be on through Jan. 1. This comes less than a week after WarnerMedia announced the launch of a new streaming service sometime in 2019.The previous reports prompted fans of "Friends" to launch an online petition to encourage Netflix to keep "Friends" as part of its service. Dennis Hof, a Nevada brothel owner and reality TV star who died last month, won an election for Nevada's 36th Assembly District Tuesday night, the Nevada Secretary of State's office said.Hof, who ran as a Republican, defeated Democratic challenger Lesia Romanov by more than 7,000 votes, the office said.Nevada's 36th Assembly District sits in the southern portion of the state, and includes portions of Nye, Lincoln and of Clark counties. According to state law, county officials will now appoint a fellow Republican who also resides in the district to take Hof's seat.Hof, a self-proclaimed pimp, was found dead October 16 after celebrating his 72nd birthday at one of his ranches. DENVER, Colo. - A group of teenagers is using social media to try to inspire younger generations to sign up to work at the election polls this November.The Poll Hero Project was started by a group of teens from Denver East High School as well as students from Princeton University as a way to inspire their peers to get involved.“I never really expected it to go anywhere. I mean, we don’t really have any money or really any advertising. It’s really just been using social media to get our message out,” said Leo Kamin, one of the project’s co-founders.Kamin is a 17-year-old who signed up to be a poll worker during the previous election for the first time after mother found out about the student poll worker program through the Colorado Secretary of State’s website and encouraged him to join.In Colorado, you must be 16 in order to serve as a poll worker. It is a paid position.“It really did open my eyes just to the process and how many things you have to have right,” Kamin said.Along with learning the intricacies of how the election process works, Kamin says he was able to bring his own set of skills to the polling place.“In Colorado, you can change your registration on your phone, and I was the only one of the greeters, the poll workers, who understood how to sort of explaining that on the website,” Kamin said. “I think there is that knowledge that comes from the people who have done this a lot and have voted for before, but I think there are also things that younger people bring that are valuable.”Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, some areas are struggling to find enough poll workers to work on election day.Colorado has not had that problem for the most part, and places like Denver and Jefferson County say they experienced record interest this election.Still, the teens are using social media to encourage students across the country to check in with their counties to see whether they need help.One of the students who decided to sign up to be a poll worker for the first time is Ben Ginsberg. He’s still going through the training process to be ready for election day but says he’s excited about the opportunity.“I thought it was a great opportunity to help out and play my part,” Ginsberg said.Along with being a first-time poll worker, Ginsberg is also a first-time voter in this general election after participating in the primary.“I’m super excited to vote in the presidential election. It’s even more important than the primaries obviously. I think that was kind of my way to express my personal views,” Ginsberg said.He believes there is more interest in politics these days among his peers and many of his friends are excited for the opportunity to vote.Kamin is not so lucky; he missed the age deadline to be able to vote this election by just a couple of weeks. Still, Kamin says he’s excited to be able to have an opportunity to contribute.“I feel like because I can’t vote it makes it even more important to participate,” he said. “There are not many things you can do as a 17-year-old but this is one of them.”He’s still surprised by just how much popularity the project has garnered despite the fact that they have no money for advertising and have only been using social media to get their message out.Both teens will be missing school Monday and Tuesday in order to work the polls but say they hope their teachers and classmates understand the importance of the role they are playing in democracy. They hope even more teenagers will consider signing up in the future.“Sure, you may not be in charge of the country now, but you will be in the future, and this is your country. DESCANSO, Calif. (KGTV) - Reports of a positive COVID-19 test at an East County Catholic church are raising concerns about possible exposure.The church is Our Lady of Light Catholic Church in Descanso. On a Facebook post, a board member of the Descanso Town Hall reported a positive case was just revealed to the church pastor by a parishioner. In a statement, a spokesperson for the Catholic Diocese of San Diego says the parishioner is a volunteer who helps prepare the altar for services. She wore a mask and maintained social distance.According to the post, "the person who tested positive was actively involved in all mass and church activities while having symptoms for a week so exposure is possible."The woman remains ill and is now in quarantine at home.The post goes on to explain that exposure was possible for anyone who went to mass in the past two weeks, which includes some 16 different services.It's unclear how many people that totals, but one parishioner tells ABC 10News pre-pandemic attendance for bigger masses numbered in the dozens.The apparent positive test comes amid coronavirus shutdown orders banning indoor church services in the county.The Diocese says the pastor, Father Enrique Fuentes, received a coronavirus test. Any outdoor masses won't take place until the result is known.According to the Diocese, the county has not yet contacted the church about the positive case, but the pastor decided to go ahead and close the church for deep cleaning and inform other volunteers she was in contact with. 1539

Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris said Thursday that she would suspend in-person campaigning until Oct. 19 after she encountered two people who have contracted COVID-19.According to a statement from Biden campaign manager Jen O'Malley Dillon, a "non-staff flight crew member" and Harris' communications director, Liz Allen, both tested positive for the virus on Wednesday.The Biden campaign said that during its contact tracing, a member of the company that charters Joe Biden's airplane tested positive for the coronavirus. The Biden campaign said that the crew member was at least 50 feet away from Biden at all times, and Biden wears an N95 mask during flights. The Biden campaign does not plan on altering his schedule.According to the campaign, Harris was "not in close contact, as defined by the CDC," with either person. While she does not need to quarantine by CDC guidelines, the campaign has canceled her travel through Sunday "out of an abundance of caution."The campaign added that those who tested positive have not had any contact with Biden campaign staffers since thier diagnosis.Harris took PCR COVID-19 tests on Oct. 8 and Oct. 14, both of which have come back negative.Harris was scheduled to campaign in North Carolina on Thursday. 1276
