(KGTV) - Families who are caught illegally entering the U.S. will likely be broken up under a new border security policy that is now in effect, the Los Angeles Times reported Monday.The newspaper, citing a Department of Homeland Security official, reported a new Trump administration policy would separate parents and children in the event a family is detained for crossing the U.S.-Mexico border illegally.In a news conference Monday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions said the separation is due to the legal process, adding that citizens in the U.S. are also separated from their families when they're arrested.According to the report, families that are detained for illegal crossings have typically been kept together in the past. (KGTV) - Chula Vista Mayor Mary Salas outlined the city’s recent accomplishments and layed out its future goals in her fourth State of the City Address Tuesday night. Salas went over the growth and achievements San Diego County's second-largest city has seen over the last year, including neighborhood revitalization and the approval of the Bayfront Project. During the address, Salas spoke about events that drew large crowds over the last year.Salas said the city’s Fourth of July celebration in 2017 drew a crowd of 15,000 while more than 35,000 people attended HarborFest on the Bayfront.RELATED: Port of San Diego, Chula Vista moves forward with bayfront developmentThe Mayor also spoke about growth happening in Third Avenue Village citing the Lemon Fest, Taste of Third and Village Summer Nights in June. A popular topic throughout California in recent years is infrastructure. (CNN) -- Jollibee, the Philippines' largest fast food chain, is taking a big step to expand its business internationally.The company said it plans to acquire California-based Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, which has nearly 1,200 stores across more than 25 countries. The brand's cafes serve brewed coffee and sweet blended drinks like chocolate cookie lattes and frozen mango sunrise ice blended tea.Jollibee wants to focus on growing the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf brand in Asia. In a press release, Jollibee's Chairman Tony Tan Caktiong said the deal will enable the company to "become an important player in the large, fast growing and profitable coffee business."Starbucks and Luckin Coffee have also been expanding their Asian businesses. Luckin announced this week it will partner with Kuwait-based company The Americana Group to set up a coffee retail business in the Middle East and India.
