You have a referee. You have different criteria in place to make sure it’s a fair sport.”Castillo has considered breakdancing a sport for a long time, and he already uses an Olympic scoring model for his students.“We use a 10-point system and all of criteria is the definition of what the dance is, so you can’t argue against it because those are the elements that make up the dance,” Castillo says.Sletten says the point system helps with improvement.“It’s great because if you need to improve, you’re not just seeing win or lose,” he explains. “You’re seeing each category, every little thing that you did right that you did wrong.”In a way, this group of competitive break dancers has been gearing up for the gold for years already. Swinehart locked a beagle in a cage with a German shepherd-mix and starved the animals. When the beagle died, the other dog ate it to survive. When authorities found the German shepherd, it appeared to have lost nearly two-thirds of its body weight.
