BEIJING, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Monday hailed the role of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in international economic cooperation while delivering a speech via video link at an event to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the signing of the OECD Convention.

Hailing the strong desire of the two sides to deepen bilateral ties and promote pragmatic cooperation amid the ravaging COVID-19, Guo called for giving full play to the intergovernmental committee as a platform to enhance collaboration in pandemic responses and counter challenges with joint efforts.

She also pledged more efforts to increase supply and adjust demand to lower coal prices.

It is hoped that all parties will join hands in fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic, promoting recovery and development, and enhancing pragmatic cooperation in such fields as governance, culture, sports, art, film and youth, Huang said.

As the world is now facing a number of challenges, with the COVID-19 pandemic among the gravest ones, the responsibilities and actions of the G20 will be even more important, said Abdulaziz Alshaabani, a Saudi journalist and China expert.
