SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 19-year-old man was hospitalized Saturday morning with nine stab wounds suffered in a fight with another man in the Egger Highlands area of San Diego.Just before midnight Friday, the victim and the suspect got into a shouting match while standing in the doorway of the suspect's house in the 1700 block of Elm Avenue, according to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.The argument turned physical and the victim thought he was being punched, but it turned out he was being stabbed, Heims said. The victim was stabbed in both arms, the chest and stomach.He was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening wounds, Heims said.Officers responded to the suspect's home and arrested Homero Lunaosuna, 19, and recovered the knife used in the attack, Heims said. 809

SAN DIEGO — Democratic Congressman Mike Levin appears poised to keep his seat in the House of Representatives, according a scientific poll released Tuesday.The ABC-10News Union-Tribune poll showed Levin ahead of Republican Brian Maryott 49 to 37 in the 49th Congressional District, which stretches from Del Mar into southern Orange County. Levin, a first-term Congressman, defeated Republican Diane Harkey in 2018, flipping the seat longheld by Republican Darrell Issa, who decided not to seek re-election amid changing voter demographics. "We're going to do everything we can to leave no stone unturned for the next 50 days or so to make sure that we keep the 49th this coming November," Levin said. Democrats now outnumber Republicans in the district by about 3 percent. The SurveyUSA poll shows, however, that 13 percent of Republicans surveyed said they planned to vote for Levin. Meanwhile, just 2 percent of Democrats said they'd support Maryott. "If it was 25 percent or higher I would say something's going on," said political analyst John Dadian. "(Levin's) been an incumbent for two years, his challenger is an elected official but not in a good majority of the region."Maryott said it was still early in the race and that he and his campaign are working to get their message out. "People are just really starting to tune in now. Obviously Mike has name recognition that we don't, but we're out there talking to people everyday," said Maryott. Maryott said he would continue to push a message that Levin is to the extreme left of the Democratic Party. Levin said he expects attacks like that this campaign season but stands by his record. SAN DIEGO — SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A life science development firm has unveiled plans to transform eight acres along San Diego's waterfront into a mixed-use hub that could attract numerous leading edge companies to the city.Development firm IQHQ announced Monday that it closed on the site along Harbor Drive and will break ground on the project's first phase this week. The firm says it has entitlements and key permits for new office, lab and support retail space for the complex, called the San Diego Research and Development District, or RaDD. In a news release, the firm said this would be the largest urban commercial waterfront site along the Pacific Coast. The development is sure to bolster an already vibrant life sciences industry in San Diego, with biotechs clustered mostly in the Torrey Pines area. This could attract more to relocate downtown. The project would be the third major commercial development in downtown, along with the Padres plan to build office space at Tailgate Park, and the redevelopment of Horton Plaza into a tech hub."This is probably, in terms of the commercial sector, the most important pivotal moment in San Diego's modern redevelopment history," said Gary London, of commercial real estate consulting firm London Moeder Advisors.IQHQ chief executive Stephen Rosetta told ABC-10News this was the premier site to build on the west coast, if not the entire USA. "This project is really special to us because we're headquartered here in San Diego, and the partners live locally and have for most of our lives," he siad. SAN DIEGO — Marvel's "Avengers: Infinity War" has just hit theaters, igniting a new wave of excitement over the studio's next installment set for theaters next year.But fans hoping to catch a glimpse of what's in store at San Diego Comic-Con International are out of luck. Speaking with Collider, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced there will be no Hall H presence at the convention in 2018."We’re not going to Hall H this year. It will be an off year… which is what we did after Avengers 1 and what we’ve done every few years," Feige said. "There will be a tenth-anniversary presence at Comic-Con but [no Hall H panel.]"Marvel has traditionally booked a Hall H slot on Saturday night of Comic-Con to make major announcements, tease upcoming movies, and deliver special experiences to fans. The panel routinely leads to fans waiting days to get inside the panel.This is the first time Marvel will sit out of Hall H since 2015.Marvel Studios will release the next Avengers film ("Avengers 4," for now) in May 2019, expected to pick up after the events of "Infinity War."Between now and then, the studios will release "Ant-Man and the Wasp" (July 6, 2018) and "Captain Marvel" (March 9, 2019). SAN DIEGO - A landlord in the College Area near San Diego State says the homeless problem is getting worse, and it's keeping people from renting in the neighborhood.Suhail Khalifeh owns six homes near El Cajon Boulevard and Montezuma Road. He says one of them has sat empty for six months because renters are worried about the sight of homeless people in the area."When people come and see the scenes of homeless all around and smell the urine in the atmosphere, they leave and never come back," says Khalifeh.Khalifeh says he finds trash, drugs and feces in the bushes near his properties.The neighborhood has dealt with the problem for months. Last July, neighbors complained that a nearby vacant lot was becoming a camping ground for homeless people. The owners of the lot increased security and cleaned the lot out.RELATED: Neighbors fed up with homeless trash on undeveloped lotKhalifeh says that didn't solve the problem; it just moved the homeless closer to the homes."One of my tenants has seven children. She has to give them rides to the library next door," he says. "It's 50 feet away, and she doesn't feel safe for her kids to walk to the library."Khalifeh showed surveillance video to 10News of a homeless man threatening one of his neighbors. He also has video of people meeting in the middle of the night for what he thinks are drug deals.A search of the website crimemapping.com shows 46 criminal reports filed in the area within the last month.Khalifeh says the police do an excellent job at responding, but they can only offer short-term solutions.
