Workers at a restaurant in Ohio refused to complete a catering order for troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol amid civil unrest over the death of George Floyd. The restaurant chain, Condado Tacos, closed its Columbus-area locations on Tuesday after workers accused the restaurant of firing them for not completing the order. Columbus has had its share of unrest since Thursday night, when protesters broke out the windows to a number of downtown businesses and government buildings.According to the restaurant, one of its restaurants received a catering order that was placed by the Ohio Highway Patrol, with a number of workers refusing to fulfill the order. The restaurant said that management communicated that workers who were uncomfortable with completing the order did not have to work on the order. The restaurant said that a few employees chose not to finish their shifts, and that no one will lose their jobs as a result of Monday’s incident. “Condado was built as a place for everyone, without judgment or fear,” the restaurant said in a statement. “A place where originality and being unique are embraced. We are also a family that cares for and about each other. From the first day we opened our doors, we have included all people as employees and as guests in the Condado world. We want to be clear that we stand against racism – always have and always will.”The decision to close on Tuesday affected six locations. It is unclear when the restaurants will reopen. An employee told 1512

With Halloween coming up, there’s candy everywhere. It can be easy to go overboard on the sweets, but nutritionists say there are ways to indulge and keep your health in check. With around 600 million pounds of Halloween candy bought each year, registered dietitian Sara Scheler says some treats are more nutritious than others. Scheler says she recommends Reese’s over Snickers. “I prefer them because they have simple ingredients,” said Scheler. “There’s really just sugar, a little bit of fat, chocolate and peanuts, where Snickers has a much longer label and corn syrup as well.”What about M&Ms vs. KitKats? “I would pick KitKats over M&Ms. I don’t like M&Ms because they have all that artificial color along with them and they do have a lot more concentrated sugar.”SweetTarts or Nerds?“So SweetTarts are my pick over Nerds because Nerds have a slightly larger serving size even though that box is really tiny, it still has more candy in it.”Twix or Milk Way?“Between Twix and Milk Way, I would actually say that’s a tie. They have similar amount of calories, similar amounts of added sugar.”If you plan on indulging in a few pieces of candy over the next few weeks, Scheler also suggests eating them at a certain time.“It’s best to eat sugar, especially processed sugar, with a meal, so that our blood glucose level doesn’t spike as high. So, I would recommend having candy with your meal, right after your meal, or in between meals,” said Scheler.Scheler also suggests sticking to only a few pieces of fun size candy. 1549

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Amid the coronavirus outbreak, an expectant mother says her angst is growing as she nears her due date."Health wise, everything is good. Just a lot of stress right now," said Ruth Guttierez, 27.She and her husband are expecting their first child. The excitement the Encanto woman expected to be feeling has been nudged away by a sense of dread at the thought of delivering at a hospital.RELATED: California recruiting retired doctors, med students for expected COVID-19 surge"So many people there who are sick and who might have coronavirus ... That's so scary. You expect when you go to hospital it's going to be safe. You expect that it's going to be best place to give birth. At this point, is it really?" said Guttierez. While the data isn't there when it comes to the impact of coronavirus on pregnant women, they are considered an at-risk group and likely more vulnerable to respiratory infections, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention."I don't want to get sick, and I don't want my baby to get sick," said Guttierez.RELATED: Dental specialists remain open to keep dental emergencies out of ERAnother stressor: new restrictions at her hospital limiting her to one other person in the delivery room. She must choose between her husband and her doula, whom she hired to provide support and advocate for her. She plans to choose her husband, but she's worried. "Just going to be difficult to go through that time without the additional support I thought I was going to have," said Guttierez.Instead of going to the hospital, Guttierez is now hoping for a home birth, but she can't afford the ,000 fee for a midwife. Both she and her husband are no longer working because of the pandemic. Her HMO health insurance won't cover the home birth.RELATED: Ways you can help as states scramble for ventilators, other supplies"I just wish the insurers would cover it. There is a Change.org petition pushing it," said Guttierez. She started a Gofundme campaign to raise money for a midwife, but if it doesn't workout, she'll be heading to her hospital. Like every other expectant mother these days, she'll be carrying extra concerns. She has three cousins who are also expecting. "Kenny Rogers is, of course, one of music's most successful and enduring artists. His uncanny song sense and impeccable singing resonated across the genre lines that he took delight in ignoring. The antithesis of a gambler, he thought deeply and acted deliberately with every career decision, and those decisions brought to light the songwriting talents of Hal Bynum, Mickey Newbury, Don Schlitz, and many more. Though he was by any definition a superstar, he lived a life of service to songs, writers, and, above all, listeners." 538
