SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - More than 830 pounds of narcotics, over .5 million and 20 fugitives were captured over the weekend in San Diego and Imperial Valley counties.Border officials said the seizures occurred from Friday, March 9 to Sunday, March 11. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Passengers in a deadly bus crash near Fallbrook on I-15 Saturday suffered broken bones, cuts and scrapes, according to California Highway Patrol.A 23-year-old woman from Mexico, a 73-year-old woman from Pasadena, and a 67-year-old woman from Riverside lost their lives in the crash.In a press release CHP stated 8 of the 20 passengers were from Mexico, one was from Temecula and the others were from Southern California. Their ages range from 5-years-old to 75-years-old.READ RELATED: At least three dead, 18 injured in bus rollover on Interstate 15The 5-year-old boy who was airlifted to the University of Riverside Health Services Medical Center has life threatening head injuries. He was from Mexico.Four passengers are being cared for at Inland Valley Medical Center. Seven are being treated at Temecula Valley Medical Center. Five are at the Palomar Medical Center.CHP issued a correction, saying there were 21 people total on the bus, instead of 22 as they reported Saturday. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — New numbers show the trash continues to pile up at San Diego landfills.San Diego County's daily waste disposal per person increased from 5.5 pounds in 2016 to 5.6 pounds in 2017, according to the research group, Equinox Project, the nonprofit institute at University of San Diego."When the economy's booming and there's more disposable income, people tend to buy more stuff. That means more packaging, and it tends to come with more waste," said Nilmini Silva-Send, a researcher with the Equinox Project.San Diego County's disposal rate is among the highest in the state.More trash means more greenhouse gasses released and less landfill space. As for the biggest trash makers, Del Mar comes in at more than 17 pounds per person, followed by Coronado and Carlsbad. The Del Mar Fairgrounds and Naval Base Coronado are among several possible factors. "The higher the socioeconomic level, the more waste they will tend to produce," said Silva-Send. The cities tossing the least amount of trash per person are Oceanside, Chula Vista, and Imperial beach. The biggest increase for trash disposal happened in Santee, while the biggest year-to-year decreases were in Imperial Beach and National City. The waste report is part of the Equinox Project's annual Quality of Life Dashboard report, which provides a snapshot of economic and environmental trends in the region. 1389

She's living with cerebal palsy which has kept her in a wheelchair. But, it's not holding her back. "When people look at me. It's been really hard, but I overcome that. You can do anything, I tell people you can do anything in the world," said Solis.Solid has worked in the security field and wants to move onto bigger opportunities so she decided to attend this job fair.Charlene Autolino is the chair of San Diego Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities, which put the fair together. She said the event gives many more than just a job, but motivation to strive for more."Imagine being told for years that you can't do anything because of this disability, or you aren't capable of able which is not true," said Autolino.The organizer of this event will also be hosting a similar job fair specifically for veterans in November. 1031

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police believe the deaths in Otay Mesa Sunday of an elderly man and woman may be a murder-suicide.Police have identified the suspect and victim in the incident as James 82-year-old Rafferty and 83-year-old Kazuko Rafferty. Police believe James shot Kazuko several times and then used the same gun to take his own life. Dispatchers received a call about 10:30 a.m. requesting a welfare check on a married couple who lived at the Ocean Bluffs Mobile Home Park on Del Sol Blvd.Officers responded to the home and received no answer when they knocked on the door and made several phone calls.
