SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- California's energy operator have issued a statewide Flex Alert ahead of anticipated high temperatures this coming weekend.The California Independent System Operator (ISO) is calling for voluntary electricity conservation, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14."With high temperatures in the forecast, the power grid operator is predicting an increase in electricity demand, primarily from residential air conditioning use," the ISO said in a statement.In San Diego, an Excessive Heat Warning will be in effect from noon Friday until 8pm Monday from the inland areas to the deserts. The heat will peak on Friday and Saturday with temperatures ranging 5 to 15 degrees above normal.The above-normal temperatures and humidity will stick around through most of next week."Consumers are urged to conserve electricity, especially during the late afternoon and early evening, when the grid is most stressed due to higher demand and solar energy production falling. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Car owners at a senior community in University City woke up to a messy surprise Tuesday morning. Louise, who asked 10news not to identity her, went to her SUV which was parked on Kantor Street, and her heart sank."I walked to my car and saw that the window had been burst.  It was terrifying," said Louise.Glass was everywhere and inside her vehicle was another mess.  Her glove compartment had been tossed, her insurance and registration scattered.  Nothing was missing, but Louise is nervous."Very afraid of the personal information now they know what address I'm actually at," said Louise.It appears someone took a bat or something like that to bash the window, before unlocking their passenger door.  Louise is not the only victim.  Nearby there were more vehicles hit, some 14 in all.  The windows on those vehicles were also shattered.  Some items were stolen and the repairs will cost hundreds of dollars for each incident."A lot of people on fixed incomes. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — California is "getting closer" to issuing guidance on how and when to reopen theme parks across the state during the coronavirus pandemic.Wednesday, Gov. Gavin Newsom said the state is still working on preparing guidance on when and how theme parks across the state can reopen while fighting the spread of COVID-19.“We will make determinations in real-time for theme parks, amusement parks, and the like,” Newsom said. “There’s still many areas where we are open-ended in terms of our negotiation, making progress, and advancing in the same space.”Newsom added the state is “getting closer to concluding when and how to safely reopen those sectors.”Legoland California, Disneyland and California Adventure, Knott’s Berry Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain, and Universal Studios Hollywood have each been shuttered since mid-March after stay-at-home orders were issued for the state.Downtown Disney and Universal CityWalk have reopened outside their respective theme parks with modifications.SeaWorld San Diego reopened last month on a limited basis, requiring reservations for visitors and limited access to exhibits. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- California roads have some of the worst drivers in the entire country, according to a new ranking.Finance website SmartAsset reports that California ties with Missouri to take third on the list for states with the worst drivers.In order to rank states, the site looked at the percentage of drivers with insurance, the number of DUIs per driver, the average number of deaths per miles driven and how often residents Google terms like traffic ticket or speeding ticket.California ranked 12th for DUIs per thousand drivers and 11th for percentage of uninsured drivers. The Golden State also ranked 32nd for number of people killed per 100 million miles driven.It may give some comfort to know that California wasn’t ranked first.
