The Philadelphia Police Department has released officer-worn body camera footage and 911 calls from an October shooting that led to the death of Walter Wallace, Jr.ABC News reports that the release maks the first time in the department's history that it has released body camera footage.Wallace was shot and killed by police on Oct. 26. Police at the time said they were responding to reports of a man with a weapon and that Wallace did not respond to orders to drop a knife he was holding.According to WPVI-TV, Philadelphia police received three 911 calls regarding the incident. The first came from a neighbor who reported that a fight next door. The other two calls came from family members, who asked for help in dealing with Wallace.Bodycam footage from the incident shows officers Wallace leaving a house and walking toward the street holding a knife. Police repeatedly yelled at Wallace to drop his knife and ask others in the area to back away.Despite repeated warnings to drop his weapon, the video shows Wallace circling a parked car and walking toward officers. Police fired 14 shots toward Wallace, though the department has not confirmed how many of those shots struck Wallace.Wallace was later transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.According to WPVI, officers are the scene were not armed with less-lethal weapons, like stun guns. Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said Wednesday that the department has sought funding to equip more officers with stun guns.Wallace's death sparked a few days of protests in Philadelphia. The Los Angeles County District Attorney is forming a task force to evaluate sexual assault cases in Hollywood."In response to the widespread allegations of sexual abuse in the entertainment industry, I have established a task force of specially trained deputy district attorneys who are ready to evaluate these cases if any are referred to my office for criminal prosecution," Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey said in a statement. "I have assigned the group of veteran sex crimes prosecutors to work together to ensure a uniformed approach to the legal review and possible prosecution of any case that meets both the legal and factual standards for criminal prosecution."Lacey added that to date, her office has not received any cases from law enforcement for possible criminal filing. 811
The major boom of online grocery ordering shows no signs of slowing down. More than six months into the COVID-19 pandemic, industry experts say the new convenience of ordering groceries through an app is here to stay. "In fact, it's been a huge acceleration. All of our clients that we serve, and we serve some of the biggest supermarkets in North America and the world, they picked up three times the volume that they were doing before this pandemic. And, in fact, more of them didn’t picked up more volume because they couldn't just fulfill enough orders at a time," said Max Pedro, the co-founder and president of Takeoff Technologies. Takeoff Technologies creates automated grocery fulfillment software for some of the biggest grocery chains in the country, including Albertsons, Safeway and Shoprite. The technology requires supermarkets to build a 10,000-square-foot warehouse directly behind their store. When a shopper places an online grocery order at one of these stores, the robots fulfill the order, automatically placing the items in bags, ready for the customer."What happens is those robots bring those individual items to a human being, but those items are coming to a person. They're suddenly making people 13 times more productive than if they have to roam a supermarket aisle to assemble that order," said Pedro.The company has already hit their five-year goal in just four months. "And it’s happened really fast and what’s also happening is we know that consumers are not going back to their previous behaviors. We forcefully trained many, many people to buy their supermarket carts online and they're sticking to it," said Pedro.Laurentia Romaniuk, an Instacart Trends Expert, agrees. "We've seen customers continue to use our site. It seems like online grocery is really here to stay. It's interesting because online grocery has existed in other countries for decades and people have built habits around it in other countries and I think, finally, now America is getting on board with the online grocery trend," said Romaniuk.Instacart, which offers grocery delivery service for a fee from a number of grocery stores across the country, says use of their site went up exponentially at the start of the pandemic. Now that we're in the fall, parents and children are still working and taking classes from home and the need to get groceries delivered or gathered for them, is still there. "Yes, customers are going online and shopping online and becoming more comfortable with that, but also hobbies and habits and eating patterns are changing," said Romaniuk.Pedro says pre-pandemic, only 10% of the market was buying online. It's now grown to 27%. "Remind you that four years ago, the U.S. market was half-a-percent online. Grocery is a really rough category to offer online and still maintain those low prices. The other shoe has dropped for struggling sneaker company Under Armour.Under Armour reported quarterly sales Tuesday that fell nearly 5% from a year ago, missing forecasts badly. The company also lowered its outlook for the year again.That news sent the company's two classes of stock down more than 15% Tuesday. They had already lost nearly half their value for the year ahead of the earnings report. Revenue in North America makes up more than three-quarters of its overall sales -- and those sales plunged 12% in the third quarter.It's a stunning fall from grace for Under Armour, which not that long ago was gaining market share at the expense of Nike and Adidas.The company signed Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry a few years ago, a move that seemed like a slam dunk success, since Curry has gone on to win multiple NBA MVP awards and two championships.But several iterations of the Curry shoes have routinely been mocked on social media for not looking cool. The New York state attorney general's civil lawsuit against the Donald J. Trump Foundation, President Donald Trump and his three eldest children can proceed after a state court judge on Friday denied their motion to dismiss the case.In her decision, Justice Saliann Scarpulla ruled that a sitting president can face a civil lawsuit in state court for actions not taken in his official capacity. That ruling puts Scarpulla in agreement with another recent ruling against Trump, a decision in the defamation lawsuit brought against him by Summer Zervos, a former contestant on "The Apprentice."And, Scarpulla said, it is in line with the US Supreme Court's 1997 ruling concerning President Bill Clinton in response to Paula Jones' sexual harassment lawsuit."Allowing this action to proceed is entirely consistent with the Supreme Court's holding in Clinton v. Jones that the President of the United States is 'subject to the laws for his purely private acts,'" Scarpulla wrote.As she did in court in October, the judge noted that Trump has appealed the Zervos decision, and if the appeals court rules in his favor, the attorney general's office would likely need to amend its lawsuit to remove Trump himself as a defendant.The Trump Foundation case is being considered in the New York Supreme Court, the state's trial court.The suit, filed in June, names as defendants the foundation, Trump and his children Eric, Donald Jr. and Ivanka Trump, all of whom sat on the charity's board. It alleges that they violated federal and state charities law with a "persistent" pattern of conduct that included unlawful coordination with the 2016 Trump presidential campaign.The attorney general's office, led by Barbara Underwood, is seeking to dissolve the Trump Foundation and wants .8 million in restitution, plus additional penalties. The office is also seeking to ban Trump from serving as a director of any New York nonprofit for 10 years and to prohibit the other board members, the Trump children, from serving for one year."As we detailed in our petition earlier this year, the Trump Foundation functioned as little more than a checkbook to serve Mr. Trump's business and political interests," Underwood said in a statement Friday. "There are rules that govern private foundations — and we intend to enforce them, no matter who runs the foundation."An attorney for the defendants, Alan Futerfas, said "the decision means only that the case goes forward.
