A 9-year-old child accused of causing a mobile home fire that killed three children and two adults in central Illinois has been charged with five counts of first-degree murder. The juvenile also was charged with two counts of arson and one count of aggravated arson."You know, would he? I don't know if he understands what he's really done," neighbor Liza Munoz said. "Do you know what I mean? Can you imagine? And a child doing that?" The April 6 fire killed a 1-year-old, two 2-year-olds, a 34-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman at the Timberline Mobile Home Park near the village of Goodfield, about 150 miles southwest of Chicago.Woodford County Coroner Tim Ruestman said the fire was started intentionally. No child as young as this one has been accused in a mass killing since at least 2006, according to a mass murder database that tracks all U.S. homicides since then in which four or more people were killed, not including the offender, over a period of 24 hours, regardless of weapon, location, victim-offender relationship or motive."I think that he should be followed well into his 30s or 40s," Munoz said. "You know, he should be on probation for a long time for this. It shouldn't just be until he's 18." 1230

A federal judge in California ruled against the Trump administration on Friday in two different cases, ultimately preventing .5 billion in federal funds from being used for a border wall in portions of California, New Mexico, Texas and Arizona. In the first case, US District Court for Northern California ruled in favor of a challenge to President Donald Trump's attempt to move billions from the Defense Department budget toward building a border wall in El Centro, California, and New Mexico.Trump's move was done as part of his national emergency declaration in February. California Attorney General Xavier Becerra filed the lawsuit, joined by 16 states, soon afterward.Becerra celebrated the ruling Friday, which he said permanently stops the administration from proceeding with construction on the wall."These rulings critically stop President Trump's illegal money grab to divert .5 billion of unauthorized funding for his pet project," Becerra said. "All President Trump has succeeded in building is a constitutional crisis, threatening immediate harm to our state. President Trump said he didn't have to do this and that he would be unsuccessful in court. Today we proved that statement true."CNN has reached out to the White House for comment.Judge Haywood Gilliam determined in the 1308
A federal jury awarded Planned Parenthood nearly .3 million in damages Friday after finding that anti-abortion activist David Daleiden and his group broke federal and state laws when they secretly recorded employees of the organization.Daleiden, who leads the anti-abortion organization Center for Medical Progress, and co-defendant Sandra Merritt posed as biotechnology workers for a fake company called Biomax Procurement Services in order to secretly record videos of Planned Parenthood employees between 2013 and 2015. The two, who pretended to be seeking tissue from abortions for "medical research," took the secret recordings at conferences and at Planned Parenthood-affiliated clinics in Texas and Colorado, 730
