BEIJING, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao said on Friday that China hopes to advance the strategic cooperative partnership with the Republic of Korea (ROK).     "We will work with the ROK to increase friendly exchanges at various levels and enhance pragmatic cooperation in various sectors," Hu told Kim Hyong-o, speaker of the ROK National Assembly.     Hailing the smooth development of China-ROK ties in recent years, Hu said the leaders of the two nations had maintained frequent contacts, exchanged views often and reached broad consensus on important issues.     "This gives strong impetus to the growth of bilateral relations," Hu noted. BEIJING, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong Wednesday said China will broaden international exchanges and learn from other countries in heritage protection.     "China will strengthen cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and other international organizations," Liu said at a ceremony held here Wednesday marking the 30th founding anniversary of China's National Commission for UNESCO.     "The Chinese government will keep carrying out international conventions and actively explore scientific laws and effective methods in heritage protection," Liu said.     China will stick to the principle of "preservation first" and avoid over-exploitation and destructive construction, Liu said.     China is a country with rich cultural and natural heritage. So far, a total of 38 heritage sites in the country have been included in the World Heritage List, and 29 kinds of non-material cultural heritage have been included in the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

BEIJING, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- China's National Audit Office (NAO)announced on Saturday that, in 2009, no serious violations were found in the management of reconstruction funds for regions hit by the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake.     Auditors, however, did find some problems in the implementation of post-quake rebuilding plans, distribution of relief funds and management of reconstruction projects, said the NAO.     The NAO has transfered one violation case to the procuratorial organ in 2009. Two people responsible for the violation were arrested and another 11 people were in custody.     The NAO said it and its local offices have already released the auditing results to the public.     Liu Jiayi, chief auditor of the NAO said earlier that they would, in 2010, continue to keep a close eye on the whole process of post-quake rebuilding.
