A Milwaukee County bus crashed near a busy college campus on Tuesday.The bus crashed near Johnston Hall on Marquette's campus in downtown Milwaukee.The Milwaukee Fire Department says at around 5:15 p.m. a Route 12 bus lost control while turning left. The bus ended up on the sidewalk near Gesu Church. Marquette Police said five people sustained non-life-threatening injuries. MU police also said the bus hit Johnston Hall and caused damage to the front of the building. One runway has been closed.There were 112 passengers and five crew members on the flight, Southwest spokeswoman Brandy King said. Southwest tweeted the airline will refund the passengers ticket costs and will make an "additional gesture of goodwill."Around the time of the incident, visibility at the airport dropped to 1 mile. The area is experiencing heavy rain -- up to a half inch in an hour at one point, and a flood advisory is in effect for Los Angeles County, where the airport is located.The FAA implemented a ground stop that kept incoming flights in the air for an extra 45 minutes.Over six hours, the area received 1.66 inches of rain. A new White House-backed ad campaign aims to encourage people who are unemployed or unhappy in their jobs or careers to “find something new.” The campaign's opening ad for Tuesday's roll out features ordinary people sharing their stories. A companion website, FindSomethingNew.org, provides links to training and other resources. The Trump administration has long emphasized skills-based job and vocational training, arguing that many jobs don't require a college degree. A Tennessee woman was behind a security threat that placed the White House on lockdown.The vehicle that rammed the security gate Friday afternoon is registered to Jessica R. Ford, a woman who has had run-ins with Secret Service in the past. The car also had Rutherford County tags.The incident report says Ford intentionally hit the fixed security barrier with her car while holding a gun in her hand behind the wheel.According to the report, Ford hit the gate, and continued to accelerate, while an officer demanded she put the gun down multiple times. Witnesses reported seeing smoke from her vehicle's tires.When she did not comply,  the officer removed the gun from hand before she was pulled from behind the steering wheel.Once they pulled her out of the driver's side window, they handcuffed her and searched the vehicle.The White House was placed on lockdown for about an hour during the investigation. The Secret Service confirmed no shots were fired during the incident, and no law enforcement personnel were injured.President Trump was inside the White House at the time, hosting Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. Turnbull remained at the White House as the incident was being investigated.The incident wasn't Ford's first run-in with secret service. According to reports, Ford tried to get past security and scale a fence at the White House in April, May and July of 2017.  She was arrested and charged with unlawful entry and ordered to stay away from the White House grounds.Ford has a lengthy criminal history in Tennessee as well. In 2003, she was charged with DUI and prescription fraud. From 2004 to 2006 she was charged with multiple counts of violation of probation and resisting arrest. In 2011,  in Nashville she was charged with criminal trespassing.The Secret Services said Ford is now facing multiple charges in connection to Friday's incident including Unlawful Entry, Carrying a Pistol without a License, and Destruction of Government Property.Learn more about Friday's incident here. 2113

A pair of studies released in recent days show how the worst of the economic woes have hit lower-income and minority Americans.According to Pew Research, 46% of lower-income Americans have trouble paying bills since March. The data also indicated that 51 % of lower income Americans have had more difficulty saving money since the start of the pandemic.For those considered “upper income,” just 21% say were saving less money than before the pandemic, compared to 25% of upper-income Americans who were able to save more, according to Pew.Pew’s data also showed that minorities were much more likely to be financially impacted. The data showed that 11% of whites received assistance from a food pantry or food bank since March, compared to 33% of Blacks and 30% of Hispanics.The data also showed that Blacks and Hispanics were two times more likely to have difficulty paying bills.A study by Harvard released earlier this month showed similar data.The data found that 71% of Americans with a household income of less than ,000 faced financial difficulty amid the pandemic, compared to 20% of households making more than 0,000.
