SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego County public health officials on Saturday urged residents to heed the state's health order as the coronavirus surges and ICU capacity is stretched across the state.California's Southern California region, which includes San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, Imperial, Inyo, Mono, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties, fell to 12.5% ICU capacity on Saturday.Saturday, San Diego County's ICU capacity sat at 20.9%, though Supervisor Nathan Fletcher said trends have the county's capacity worsening."We will below 15% in San Diego County in the coming days or weeks," Fletcher added. "We are on a trajectory where we will be there in the near future anyway."Under the regional stay-at-home order, restrictions will last for three weeks and ban gatherings of people from different households. Eight more deaths were reported, bringing the local death toll to 1,055.There were currently 814 confirmed and suspected COVID-19 hospitalizations in the county on Saturday, a 174% increase over the last 30 days. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego County is no longer abnormally dry, according to a new report from the U.S. Drought Monitor. The report shows a large swath of Southern California having no drought. Most of California, however, remains abnormally dry, according to the report. According to the National Weather Service, the San Diego International Airport measured nearly four inches of rain since October 1st. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Residents in a senior mobile home park in Oceanside are worried about speeding drivers after two ducks were hit and killed Wednesday. Neighbors told 10News a mom, dad and baby duck were crossing the road around 5 a.m. when a newspaper delivery driver ran them over.Several residents reported that the driver responsible delivers the San Diego Union-Tribune newspaper and regularly speeds on their narrow roads.The UT told 10News their carriers are employed by a separate company but issued the following statement: "We have learned that a carrier from an independent distributor, who delivers The San Diego Union-Tribune, may have been involved in an auto collision involving a family of ducks. Safety is a priority for us and we support safe and respectful work practices among the vendors with whom we do business. We share the concerns of the residents and encourage the distributor to review the incident and address any unsafe practices." 970

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore said Friday a new review of the death of Rebecca Zahau, whose body was found hanging at the Spreckels Mansion in Coronado in 2011, found no evidence she "died at the hands of another," and the department will not reopen the case.The review, conducted this year, involved officials from the Sheriff's Major Crimes Division, Sheriff's Homicide Detail, Sheriff's Crime Lab, County Medical Examiner's Office and Coronado Police Department who were not part of the original investigation. The team looked at the case with "fresh eyes", Gore said.Zahau, 32, was the girlfriend of the mansion’s owner, Arizona pharmaceutical CEO Jonah Shacknai. Two days before her death, Zahau had been babysitting Shacknai’s 6-year-old son Max when he was seriously injured in a fall down the home’s staircase.
