OTAY MESA, Calif. (KGTV) – A growing number of locals who trying to make it in San Diego are flying out of the Tijuana International Airport to save money on airline tickets.In only its third year of service, San Diego's Cross Border Xpress, or “CBX”, is soaring in sales. “You can save so much money by traveling out of CBX,” said Luis Palacios, CBX's Chief Commercial Officer. The pedestrian bridge in Otay Mesa goes over the border and into the Tijuana airport. It’s located about 20 minutes south of downtown San Diego. San Diegan Arun Srinivasan uses CBX to fly to business meetings in Mexico. “It’s essentially like having a second airport in San Diego that just costs less,” Srinivasan said. “Every roundtrip flight, I've saved three to four hundred dollars.” RELATED: Making It in San Diego: Local cities among top in the U.S. for staycations Srinivasan said CBX also saves him time. “[Departing from] San Diego, I have to connect through LAX or San Francisco." From the Tijuana airport, there are 35 nonstop flights throughout Mexico and two to China. Security is a concern for some travelers. A 2019 report ranked Tijuana as the most dangerous city in the world. Palacios said CBX puts safety first. “It’s totally secure. Outdoor equipment retailer REI announced they are looking to sell their brand new corporate headquarters in Washington, as they embrace working from home and remote work options.“The dramatic events of 2020 have challenged us to reexamine and rethink every aspect of our business and many of the assumptions of the past. That includes where and how we work,” said REI President and CEO Eric Artz, in a video call with employees Wednesday. “As a result, our new experience of 'headquarters' will be very different than the one we imagined more than four years ago.”The company’s headquarters is being built in the Seattle area, in Bellevue, and is roughly 400,000 square feet and sits on eight acres of land. Corporate staff was planning on moving in to the newly-completed building this summer, according to the Seattle Times. PALMDALE, Calif. (CNS) - The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Thursday investigated a gunbattle between detectives from its Major Crimes Bureau and a man accused of spousal abuse and other crimes, climaxing with the death of the suspect, who was later identified as a half brother of the young Black man found hanged from a tree in Palmdale last week.The shooting occurred in a parking lot at an apartment complex in the 3400 block of 15th Street West in the Kern County town of Rosamond as the detectives trailed a suspect about 4:35 p.m. Wednesday, said Deputy James Nagao of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department."Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau were actively searching for a kidnap, spousal abuse, assault with a deadly weapon suspect," Lt. Robert Westphal told reporters at the scene.The investigation led to the parking lot of the apartment complex, Nagao said."The detectives observed and positively identified a male matching the suspect's description in a vehicle," Nagao said. "Detectives followed the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The suspect opened the front passenger door of the vehicle and engaged the deputies by firing multiple rounds at them with a handgun. At that time, an officer involved shooting occurred during which the suspect was struck several times in the upper torso."The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene," Nagao said. "The female driver was also struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital where she was treated and released. A seven year old girl was also in the vehicle and was uninjured."The suspect was struck several times in the upper body, Westphal said. The woman suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. The 7-year-old girl's relationship to either adult was not immediately disclosed.Deputies recovered a gun at the scene. No deputies were hurt.The man who was fatally shot was Terron Jammal Boone, a half-brother of Fuller, a Fuller family attorney said."This afternoon I had to notify the sisters of Robert Fuller that their half-brother Terron Jammal Boone was killed by Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies in Kern County," attorney Jamon Hicks said in a statement."At this time, until we receive all of the information, the family and their legal team doesn't have any further comment on this incident. The family respectfully asks that their privacy be respected."Court records cited by the Los Angeles Times show that Boone was charged Tuesday with multiple criminal counts including criminal threats, assault, false imprisonment and domestic violence.Surveillance video of the incident posted by the Rosamond Community Watchdog, a local news platform, showed multiple vehicles trailing a dark SUV into a housing complex parking lot, The Times reported. PHOENIX (AP) — The 5,200 active-duty troops being sent by President Donald Trump to the U.S.-Mexico border will be limited in what they can do under a federal law that restricts the military from engaging in law enforcement on American soil.That means the troops will not be allowed to detain immigrants, seize drugs from smugglers or have any direct involvement in stopping a migrant caravan that is still about 1,000 miles from the nearest border crossing.Instead, their role will largely mirror that of the existing National Guard troops — about 2,000 in all — deployed to the border over the past six months, including providing helicopter support for border missions, installing concrete barriers and repairing and maintaining vehicles. PINELLAS PARK, Fla. — Pinellas Park Detectives have arrested a maintenance worker for video voyeurism after they say he placed video recording devices above the ceiling tiles inside women's restrooms.John Gibbs, 49, of Largo, was arrested on Thursday evening and charged with 14 counts of Video Voyeurism.Detectives say the investigation began on March 2 when Pinellas Park Police were called to an office building located at 12360 66th Street North to investigate a suspicious incident in one of the women's restrooms inside the building.  During the initial investigation, officers located two separate video recording devices above the ceiling tiles inside two different women's restrooms.  After conducting a search of the recording devices, detectives observed video images of multiple women and two men who had been recorded using the restroom.During the investigation, detectives were able to identify Gibbs from images captured on the recording device, as being a maintenance worker for the office building.  Over the last several days, detectives worked to identify victims on the videos.  So far, 14 different victims have been identified. However, several more victims remain unidentified, according to police.Detectives have notified the office building management of their findings. Police say that the office building management has since notified the 60 different small businesses inside the building where the common restrooms are located.Police say that they believe Gibbs had been recording such videos since the beginning of February 2018, before being discovered. The investigation is ongoing as detectives continue to identify other victims. Additional charges are expected. 1818
