ASTANA, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- China's top political adviser, Jia Qinglin, met here Wednesday with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and both sides called for intensified bilateral ties.Jia, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, said during the meeting that bilateral relations have witnessed fruitful development since the two countries established diplomatic ties 18 years ago.China and Kazakhstan have supported each other in such issues concerning their core interests as sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, Jia said.They also have carried out close cooperation under multilateral frameworks of the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, the top adviser said.In addition, Jia said, both sides have kept close communications and coordination on major regional and international issues."Deepening relationship between the two was in line with the basic interests of the people in two countries, and China will work hard with Kazakhstan for a sounder and deeper relationship," Jia said.China and Kazakhstan bear great potential in economic development, and the two sides will further strengthen cooperation in the fields of finance, energy, transportation and tourism, Jia said.Nazarbayev hailed the close high-level contacts and the development of ties after the two countries established a strategic partnership in 2005.He also hailed the ever-deepening pragmatic cooperation that has benefited the two countries.Kazakhstan values the development of its ties with China and stands ready to work together to further enhance exchanges and cooperation in such areas as trade and economy, energy, and security so as to keep promoting their strategic relationship, the president said.Nazarbayev also vowed to intensify cooperation with China under the SCO framework."Since Kazakhstan is now chairing the rotating presidency of the organization, we will try all means to prepare and present a successful summit next year," he said.On the same day, Jia also met with Nurlan Nigmatulin, first deputy chairman of People's Democratic Party "Nur Otan." WUHAN, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- China is building museums and shooting a blockbuster movie in honor of the 1911 Revolution, whose centenary will be celebrated this year on both sides of the Strait.Also known as the Xinhai Revolution, the uprising in 1911 was remembered for creating the Republic of China, the first republic in the Asian history.Its spiritual leader, Sun Yat-sen, was also the founder of the Kuomintang (KMT).The Republic of China, however, ended its rule after the KMT was defeated by the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) and retreated to Taiwan in 1949.Both the Chinese mainland and Taiwan have promised a grand celebration of the revolution's 100-year anniversary, which will fall on October 10 this year.On the mainland, an epic movie depicting the revolution will hit the screen in September to recall the event.Named Xinhai Revolution, the movie stars over 70 leading Chinese actors and actresses, including Jackie Chan, Li Bingbing, and Winston Chao.It is another blockbuster China has made to present landmark revolutions.The previous film was Founding of a Republic, which hailed the 60th anniversary of the birth of the People's Republic of China in 2009.Apart from encouraging people to attend the cinema, many Chinese cities are also arranging exhibitions featuring the revolution.In the central Chinese city of Wuhan, where the revolution began, a new museum, the 1911 Revolution Museum, will be opened on the eve of the centenary.The city has also mounted a global search for lost materials and artifacts related to the revolution, said He Xiaoxu, the chief of Wuhan Bureau of Culture."The city government will assist in the work of gathering materials for the museum and fund the purchases," said He.So far, the museum has received 40 pieces of artifacts retrieved by purchases and 70 by donations, including three from Taiwan.The three artifacts, including one photograph and two calligraphies by revolutionary figures, were contributed by the leader of a Taiwan-based exchange promotion organization.Yang Yi, spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said the Chinese mainland supported a joint celebration of the anniversary with Taiwan."The commemoration of the revolution will help unite people across the Strait in achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation," said Yang.

BEIJING, Nov.18 (Xinhua) -- Premier Wen Jiabao's visit to Tajikistan next week will deepen friendly cooperation between China and Tajikistan, said Cheng Guoping, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister, Thursday."Since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations in 1992, bilateral relations have witnessed steady and sound development with extensive high level exchanges and increasing political mutual trust," said Cheng at a press conference.He said because of the joint efforts by the two sides, cooperation in trade, transportation, communications, electricity and infrastructure had been expanding and fruitful.Total bilateral trade volume in the first 10 months this year reached 1.08 billion U.S. dollars, a 2.5-percent rise from the same period last year, Cheng said.The two countries had also supported each other in major issues of mutual concern and maintained close coordination within multilateral institutions like the UN and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), effectively guarding their own interests and making positive contributions to the world peace and development, he said.During the visit, the leaders of the two countries would exchange ideas about bilateral cooperation as well as international and regional affairs.Wen would also attend ninth SCO prime ministers' meeting in Tajikistan's capital of Dushanbe on Nov. 25, said Cheng.He said the SCO member nations were expected to find common ground in promoting regional cooperation, facilitating investment, and enhancing the organization's internal construction.Sun Yongfu, director general of department of European affairs at Ministry of Commerce, who also attended the press conference, said economic cooperation among SCO members had been fruitful due to their close trade links.He said in the first 10 months this year the total trade volume between China and the other SCO states reached 67.9 billion U.S. dollars, up 37.4 percent year on year.Sun said the close cooperation among SCO member nations had made positive contributions to returning the world economy back to growth.

BEIJING, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Qiushi, or "Seeking Truth," the official magazine of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, will publish an article by senior CPC leader Zhou Yongkang on Sunday. In the article, Zhou, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, called for an education and practice campaign in 2011 to foster a politically steadfast, professionally competent and impartial law-enforcement force with a superior work style. Zhou is also the secretary of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee.
