BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Red Sox has rehired Alex Cora as manager.The team decided about a week after Cora finished the one-year suspension handed down by Commissioner Rob Manfred for sign-stealing while he was the bench coach in Houston in 2017.The move returns him to the Boston dugout less than a year after the ballclub let him go because of his role in the Houston Astros cheating scandal.Major League Baseball said the Astros decoded pitch signs by using their video replay system. To alert the batter, members of the Astros would relay the information with a noise, which included banging a trash can.The Red Sox dismissed Cora in January.In April, after an investigation into the Red Sox, MLB stripped the Red Sox of their second-round pick in this year's amateur draft for breaking video rules in 2018. The league suspended then-former manager Cora through the 2020 postseason, the Associated Press reported.Per the AP, MLB also suspended the Red Sox's replay system operator J.T. Watkins after they found that he used in-game video to revise sign sequences provided to players.Cora joined the Red Sox in 2018 and led them to the World Series championship. 1173

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The entire force of the Buffalo Police Emergency Response Team has resigned as of Friday afternoon in support of the two officers who were suspended without pay following an incident in Niagara Square on Thursday.The 57 officers have not resigned from the department and will keep their jobs. They have only resigned from their roles on the emergency response team.The Niagra Square incident involved a 75-year-old man, Martin Gugino, being shoved by officers. A few weeks later, her package arrived.In a video she recorded while opening the package, Haynesworth was baffled when she realized the tree she got in the mail looked nothing like the ad she was served."Like seriously? Who is responsible for this?" she said.Haynesworth ordered the tree from a website called Iridescent To You, but the payment was processed by Yokawa Network Limited."So I love rainbow everything, and so I'm like okay, a rainbow Christmas tree, why not? This should be fun," Haynesworth said.That is, until a feather duster lookalike arrived in the mail."Yo! It's missing a leg!" Haynesworth said in her unboxing video. "The worst thing I've ever seen in my whole life."She didn't try contacting the company or returning the item — she figured it was a lesson learned.Angie Barnett, president and CEO of the Better Business Bureau in greater Maryland, said that's what creators of fake websites hope will happen."The scammer or the schemer clearly made a profit. Most of these items are made overseas, so to return the item you'd actually have to ship to China or ship to an outside country and the cost is going to be phenomenal," Barnett said.Before ordering anything from social media ads or unfamiliar sites, look at the contact page. If there is no business address listed, that's a red flag. If there is an address, Google the address to see if it exists. Call the phone number to see if it works. Send an email and wait for a response. And use a credit card when shopping online.While it's nothing close to what she ordered, Haynesworth said she's keeping the tree."I'm determined now," she said. Blowing dust caused by strong winds across the state made for dangerous travel in Central Nebraska on Monday. The Nebraska State Patrol closed part of Interstate 80 near Seward for several hours after dust clouds obscured visibility in the area and caused in a multi-vehicle crash that left several injured, according to an NSP release.Six semi-tractor-trailers and several passenger cars were involved in the pile-up Monday, and I-80 was closed in both directions for nearly four hours while crews worked to assist injured motorists and clear the roadway, the release states.Injured motorists were transported to Seward Memorial Hospital; two were transported via life-flight, the release states. All injured parties are believed to have non-life threatening injuries.It was the second day dust had impacted travel in Central Nebraska. On Sunday, both directions of I-80 are were closed near Aurora because of a fatal multi-vehicle crash attributed to poor visibility due to blowing dust.  1058
