Sixty-four spellers will not be moving onto the final preliminary competition. (KGTV) - A group of people sprang into action to catch a young girl who slipped off a ski lift in Big Bear.This past weekend, video shot by Instagram user explosive_comics_art showed a 5-year-old girl dangling from a chairlift during an outing at Bear Mountain Ski Resort.Moments later, as the girl was coming dangerously close to falling off, being held by only her hoodie by a ski instructor, according to ABC Los Angeles affiliate KABC, as she dangled above the ground.RELATED: San Diego native and wife caught in Squaw Valley avalancheA group of people below rush off and bring back a tarp to create a safety net for her to drop down to. Gavin Newsom signs a bill passed by the state Senate Friday, state university clinics will be required to offer abortion pills to students as of 2023."The state has an interest in ensuring that every pregnant person in California who wants to have an abortion can obtain access to that care as easily and as early in pregnancy as possible," the bill states.California's legislation comes as several other states are moving to tighten abortion restrictions or to ban them with very limited exceptions."In a time when states across our country are rolling back women's health care and access to abortion, California continues to lead the nation to protect every individual's right to choose," Sen. Connie Leyva, who authored the bill, said in a statement. "SB 24 reaffirms the right of every college student to access abortion."Giving students access to abortion by medication means students won't have to "choose between delaying important medical care or having to travel long distances or miss classes or work," Leyva said.If it becomes law, the initiative would be funded by "nonstate entities, including, but not necessarily limited to, private sector entities and local and federal government agencies," the bill says.There are more than 400,000 women students at California's state university campuses, according to the bill.Former California Gov. (KGTV) -- Bay Area authorities are investigating the shooting death of one security officer and injuries to another after they were gunned down amid fiery protests in Oakland late Friday night.The shooting happened outside the Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse, a few blocks from where thousands of demonstrators where gathered.A statement from the FBI sent to Bay Area media said that at about 9:45 p.m., a vehicle approached the federal building and a gunman inside the car fired at the officers. The security officers are contracted by the Federal Protective Service of the Department of Homeland Security.The Mercury News reported that the Oakland Police Department said the shooting “is unrelated to tonight’s demonstration.”It’s unknown if police have any suspects in custody.FBI San Francisco and Oakland Police Department continue to investigate the shooting, KRON news reported.The incident happened as large groups of demonstrators clashed with police in downtown Oakland to protest the death of George Floyd.
