(KGTV) - Sheriff's Deputies are on the lookout for the man who jumped out of the bushes and confronted an Encinitas man with a rifle. The attack happened Friday morning on Fortuna Ranch Road when the victim was in his driveway. A neighbor tells 10News the man popped out of the bushes wearing a ski mask and camouflage clothing. He then pointed a rifle at the victim, threatening to rob or shoot him.  Deputies say, somehow, the victim was able to run to his neighbor's home and call 911. The gunman got away before law enforcement arrived, but it's unclear if he ran or drove away. With the gunman still at large, some neighbors are concerned for their safety. Crime Stoppers is offering a ,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest. ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) - Hundreds of teachers showed up Thursday night at the Escondido Union School board meeting, demanding better pay and benefits.The teachers are in the middle of a prolonged contract negotiation with the district.According to the superintendent, Luis Rankins-Ibarra, the district has offered a 3.37% retroactive raise for last year, when the teachers were working without a contract. Teachers have agreed to that, but are not satisfied with the 2.41% raise offered for the coming school year.“The surrounding districts have much better salary and benefits packages than ours,” said Romero Maratea, a middle school teacher and the president of the teacher’s union.The union is seeking a 2.7% cost of living adjustment (COLA) for next year. They are also asking for clarification on the district’s proposed 0.5% increase to their benefits, saying they do not know the underlying number it applies to.One of the teacher negotiators addressed the board on this topic.“Count the variables. So half a percent of an unknown quantity added to another undefined amount is what you are offering.”Another frustrated teacher commented, “are you trying to hide something? it sure seems like it.”A spokesperson for the district declined access to interview district officials.In a prepared statement from Superintendent Rankins-Ibarra, he wrote, “we are confident that we are close to a fair agreement.”He continued, “the district’s latest contract proposal is one that we can afford while still maintaining the minimum reserve requirement and remain fiscally sound three years out. FALLBROOK (KGTV) - A mobile home fire spread to brush in the Fallbrook area, North County Fire reported Tuesday.The flames broke out about 2:40 p.m. at Highway 395 and Rainbow Valley Road. The mobile home fire sparked three small brush fires nearby.The fires were extinguished within half an hour.There are no reports of injuries or road closures.An employee of a nearby business was unaware of the fire.10News is monitoring breaking developments. 455

ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) — Escondido Fire Department is working to identify potential patients who came into contact with a firefighter paramedic who has tested positive for coronavirus.Escondido Fire Department says it learned Sunday of a firefighter paramedic who tested positive for COVID-19. Several days earlier, the employee was in contact with other people who later tested positive as well, the department said.The firefighter had recently been at work but was asymptomatic at the time. The department is notifying all patients that may have been in contact with the employee.EFD says the firefighter is currently at home under quarantine and has very mild symptoms.Other EFD staff who were in contact with the firefighter at work have shown no symptoms, tested negative for COVID-19, and are being quarantined and monitored in accordance with CDC procedures."The health and safety of our community remains our highest priority. Please continue to follow Federal, State and County guidelines including social distancing if you must leave your home, and always practice good hygiene including thoroughly washing your hands,” Escondido Fire Chief Rick Vogt said. 1176
