CHENGDU, July 2 (Xinhua) -- More than 5.81 million Chinese people have been lifted out of illness-induced poverty, said Ma Xiaowei, director of the National Health Commission Monday.
The current standard of poverty relief must be strictly implemented, he said.
He also asked to have a clear understanding of China's status and role in the evolving world pattern, and formulate principles and policies of China's external work in a scientific way, through cool-headed analysis of international phenomena and China's relation with the rest of the world.
Xi said that remarkable outcomes have been achieved in advancing full and strict governance over the Party since the 18th CPC National Congress, but there is still a long journey before a full success will be declared.
After 40 years of reform and opening-up, more than 800 million Chinese people have been lifted out of poverty, which contributes more than 70 percent of the world's total poverty reduction endeavor, the forum revealed.
