(KGTV) -- Firefighters are on scene after two children fell out of a window in Granite Hills Monday afternoon.According to authorities, the incident happened on Garrison Way around 1:40 p.m. The two children are reportedly 20 and 23-months-old.The San Miguel Fire Department is handling the incident. EL CAJON (CNS) - Murder and attempted murder charges were filed Friday against a man accused of shooting two men in El Cajon earlier this year, killing one of them.Roberto Hernandez, 26, faces 59 years to life in state prison if convicted of the charges stemming from the March 20 shooting that killed James Bowens, 20, and injured another 20-year-old man, both El Cajon residents, according to Deputy District Attorney Clayton Carr.Police said officers responded just before 8 p.m. to reports of gunshots in the area of 700 Applewood Drive. Witnesses said "a confrontation had taken place in the street near the intersection of Applewood Drive and Cedar Street," according to El Cajon police.Bowens died at a hospital of at least one gunshot to his upper body and the other man was shot in the leg, police said.A suspected motive for the shooting, and the relationship, if any, between Hernandez and the victims, was not disclosed.Hernandez, who entered a not guilty plea, is being held without bail and is due back in court June 29, according to county jail records. 1076

(KGTV) - The grieving mother of an accused thief filed a lawsuit Thursday against the homeowner who shot and killed her son.The civil suit identifies the homeowner as Michael Poe, and it stems from an incident in the early morning hours of March 11. Police say the homeowner woke up to the sound of glass breaking. He went outside and found someone breaking into his work truck. His mother Monika Anderson says Joe had a drug problem but was doing his best to stay sober.“He was on Suboxone, a drug to stay sober, and someone had stolen his Suboxone,” Anderson said. “Although it's really hard for me to imagine my son at  31 years of age would just start stealing, but I think he was just desperate for drugs and in a lot of pain. I don’t think he deserved to die over that.”Police are investigating the incident and no criminal charges have been filed. Anderson’s attorney, Dan Gilleon, says that investigation should not affect their civil lawsuit.“The bottom line is Joe shouldn't have died and at a minimum its because this guy didn’t act reasonably,” Gilleon said. “This is not the Wild West. Eight people were injured during a shooting at the Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, Friday afternoon, chief of police Barry Weber told reporters. Weber confirmed that seven of the injured were adults, while one teen was among the victims. Weber did not know the extent of their injuries. Weber said when police arrived at the mall Friday afternoon, the shooter was no longer at the scene. As of early Friday evening, a suspect has not been found. A person said she heard gunshots near the food court in the mall. (KGTV) — San Diego Sheriff's bomb/arson detectives were called to investigate a house fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon.Firefighters and deputies were called to the 1600 block of Via Elisa just before 3 p.m. Wednesday after the fire broke out at the home.Strong winds threatened nearby structures, forcing deputies to evacuate the homes, the SDSO said.Based on the initial investigation, Sheriff's bomb/arson detectives were called to the scene.The cause of the fire has not been determined, but the investigation was ongoing late Wednesday. 572
