It makes me focus on everything.”Others, however, say they know better than to mix cars and cannabis. “Do not smoke weed and drive,” said marijuana smoker Sam Lee. “We all know we can barely think straight instead of drive.”Now, a team of medical professionals is studying the dangers of smoking and driving.“There’s been increasing concern about the potential of public health impacts of people using cannabis while they drive or shortly after,” said Dr. Michael Kosnett of the University of Colorado Denver.Kosnett is teaming up with Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Safety on a study about the effects of cannabis while operating a motor vehicle.This study tests three focus groups: daily smokers, occasional smokers and non-smokers as they go through tests measuring reaction times, hand-eye coordination and short-term memory.More than a year into the study, the team has hit an unexpected road block: they can’t seem to find occasional smokers.“As for people who just used it occasionally, like on a weekly basis, that was probably less than one-fourth of the people,” Kosnett said.This study is still in process. Kosnett has not yet released the findings.Denver Police Sgt. Alan Ma, however, doesn’t need to know the results. He says he knows from working his nightly beat that driving high is dangerous.“Their perception and reaction times are delayed,” Ma said about people who drive while high on marijuana. A voluntary recall has been expanded to include three types of organic nut butter that was sold in more than a dozen states.According to the Food and Drug Administration, Inspired Organics LLC issued a recall for all jars of peanut butter, tahini butter and almond butter due to a possible listeria contamination.The release expanded on an earlier recall earlier this month for jars of sunflower butter and specific lots of almond butter.Those who purchased the jars are asked to either dispose of them or return them. A Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, neighborhood had plenty to talk about Monday morning!A large gator was found in a swimming pool at a home in the Marlwood Estates community on Graemoor Terrace, and had to be removed.Video from a neighbor shows a trapper hauling the huge reptile out of the pool and dragging it across the lawn.It's unclear how the gator got into the fenced yard, or how big it is.Vanessa Schultz said she was walking her kids to the bus stop around 7:15 a.m. Monday when she was told a large alligator was in her neighbor's pool. "It was big, really big," said Schultz, who captured images of the alligator. "I was totally in panic. When I saw the alligator I was scared."Schultz said she’s lived in Marlwood Estates for three years and has only seen a gator there once before. She said the an alligator was spotted in a lake last year behind her property.Schultz, a mother of three, thinks the gator in the pool was likely 9 feet long and over 300 pounds."It totally concerns me. So now I’m scared and I don’t want to leave my kids outside playing in the backyard," said Schultz. "I also need to check the pool and check before going outside the house."The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said the gator was 9 feet long, and was relocated to a farm."It concerns me. A senior U.S. official says the United States and the Taliban have reached a truce agreement that will take effect “very soon” and could lead to withdrawals of American troops from Afghanistan. The official said Friday the agreement for a seven-day “reduction in violence” to be followed by the start of all-Afghan peace talks within 10 days is “very specific” and covers the entire country including Afghan forces. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the official wasn't authorized to discuss details ahead of an official announcement. Amazon wants to reduce its carbon footprint and give customers more control over when they receive their packages. The company found a way to achieve both in one new program.Starting Tuesday, all Prime members in the United States will be able to select a particular day to receive a week's worth of Amazon deliveries. After a Prime member enrolls in the "Amazon Day" service, Amazon will hold everything they order throughout the week, and it will deliver the items together on the customer's selected day. Amazon's new feature could persuade customers who place multiple orders a week to receive them all together. The company said that could reduce the amount of shipping materials.
