SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Homeowners in Mission Hills say someone is back to shining a laser pointer into their homes after a several week hiatusNew video from over the weekend a shows someone pointing a laser into a family’s living room.The laser pointer appears to be coming from the same place as it was back in January when 10News first did the story.Daniel Wang lives in Mission Hills and says his living room turned a blueish green on Friday. “The kids were here so luckily they didn’t look directly at the beam,” said Wang, “that’s the only thing to worry about.”Neighbors have filed a police report, but not much progress has been made because the source of the laser appears to be from a common space in an apartment complex.Doctors say lasers can cause blindness and in some cases induce seizures for those who have epilepsy.Shining a laser into another person’s eyes in California is a misdemeanor with a penalty of up to 30 days in jail. 955

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Four Democrats running to be governor of California faced off in a debate in San Diego Thursday night.The San Diego County Democratic Party hosted the debate between John Chaing, Delaine Eastin, Gavin Newsom and Antonio Villaraigosa.The Democratic Convention is set to begin Friday. The candidates were asked a wide range of questions from fixing the tax system to housing and small business.A topic that led the charge was the topic of gun control. All candidates said they support stricter gun laws.A poll released two weeks ago shows Newsom leading Villaraigosa 23 to 21 percent. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- For some people who catch the coronavirus, their symptoms can last for months. Researchers are calling these patients who now test negative but still experience symptoms "long haulers." Doctors are calling the long hauler problem a big mystery.It's a new phenomenon of a new virus, stumping even the brightest researchers and doctors."I have to tell him, I don't know," Dr. Zehui Tan with Sharp Rees Stealy Rancho Bernardo said.Dr. Tan is treating an otherwise very healthy 24-year-old man who tested positive for COVID-19 in September. She says after he quarantined for 14 days, most of his symptoms went away. He retook the test, and it came back negative. But the good news was short-lived. A month later, he ended up in the ER once again."His blood test is normal, chest is fine, but they found an abnormality in the EKG -- an inflammation of the heart. It can be a complication after COVID," Dr. Tan said.Researchers believe about 10% of COVID-19 patients see a relapse in symptoms. These "long haulers" now test negative for COVID but still experience symptoms that include coughing, fatigue, body aches, shortness of breath, loss of taste and smell, and brain fog."Almost three months after the COVID infection, he's still not feeling right," Dr. Tan said.Researchers say there does not seem to be a consistent reason or type of patient who becomes long-haulers."We see people die long from COVID, and I have a 92-year-old just fully recovered, so you just never know what's going to happen in your body once you get this COVID," Dr. Tan said.So it could be a long road ahead until her patient feels like himself again."We don't know," Dr. Tan said. "The only thing we can give is offer lots of support, treat them symptomatically, and then just watch and wait."Experts say patients who had bad respiratory issues may develop permanent lung damage. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — High surf forced the west wall at La Jolla's Children's Pool and Ocean Beach Pier closed Saturday.A high surf advisory was issued for the county's coast from Saturday to Sunday at 4 p.m. Surf is expected to peak Saturday with waves up to 10 feet possible along the county's coastline. Sunday, surf conditions are expected to hold through the day.Beachgoers were warned of strong rip currents and possible beach erosion during the surf event. Lifeguards asked that anyone heading to San Diego's beach hold off on water activities and watch the bluffs until the high surf passes.Because of the surf, San Diego Fire-Rescue lifeguards closed the Ocean Beach Pier on Friday just before 10 a.m. and were expected to keep the pier closed through at least Saturday morning.In La Jolla, lifeguards said the west wall of the Children's Pool was closed to visitors, as waves crashed over the barrier. 916
