A judge says President Donald Trump may not divert million intended for a military construction project in Washington state to build his border wall. The U.S. Supreme Court and some other courts have ruled that the administration can begin diverting billions in military spending to the wall. But U.S. District Judge Barbara Rothstein ruled Thursday that a case brought by Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson contains different arguments which are not covered by those decisions. She found that diverting the money is unlawful because it would take money that Congress appropriated for the military and use it for domestic law enforcement. 660

They contacted the city attorney and took the owner of the house to court. “The judge found in our favor, so we were pleased with that,” said Plok. The house is no longer an Airbnb, and Plok said the neighborhood is quiet again. Orinda, California, is a lot like this street in Denver. It’s quiet and families love it. The town is having issues with Airbnb, too, but, they are far more serious. The day after Halloween, Mayor Inga Miller said she got a phone call no mayor wants to get. There was a shooting at a house party and five people were killed. Miller said she had the same reaction most would, but as mayor she had a job to do as well. “So as those facts developed Friday morning, we set about changing our agenda for the Tuesday meeting to direct staff to include an item on our short term rental housing program,” said Miller. A meeting she knew the town would turn out for. Dozens did, and the meeting was emotional. How are they going to know how many people are in there? Do you want Airbnb hosts putting cameras up, inside the home?” said Young. As for Orinda, the city plans on taking action. “An interim ordinance, an urgency ordinance, that would allow us to immediately ban non hosted short term rentals, for a period of 45 days, which time could be extended up to two years, while we look at more long term solutions,” said Miller. 2877

A 23-year-old Oregon woman was arraigned on Monday and is facing criminal charges after being accused of ripping off a student's hijab and intentionally desecrating the hijab. Multnomah County (Oregon) District Attorney Rod Underhill announced that Jasmine Renee Campbell, pictured above, would face charges on two counts of bias crime in the second degree, one count of attempted strangulation, one count of harassment and one count of criminal mischief in the third degree. According to Underhill's office, Campbell allegedly approached a 24-year-old Portland State college student from behind and grabbed her hijab. Underhill said the unnamed victim was able to push Campbell away, which is when Campbell then allegedly forcibly took the hijab from the victim. Campbell was then accused of using the hijab to rub it on and across multiple exposed sexually intimate parts of her body, Underhill said, citing court documents.The student, who Underhill's office stated was from Saudi Arabia, said that she no longer feels safe wearing a hijab in public and is relying on alternative methods to cover herself, Underhill said, citing court documents. 1160
