McDowell, 24, of Washington D.C., as the Marine killed after a light armored vehicle rolled over Thursday at Camp Pendleton. (KGTV) — One man was killed early Thursday after his vehicle overturned and he was thrown from the vehicle in the North County.The crash occurred just before 5 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5, south of Basilone Rd., according to California Highway Patrol. CHP believes the 40-year-old driver of a Toyota 4-Runner was traveling southbound when for unknown reasons, he left the roadway. The vehicle overturned and the man was thrown from the SUV.CHP, Camp Pendleton Fire Department, and North County Transit District responded to the scene, but the man died at the scene. They’ve had to triple their staff to handle the increased interest.April sales for traditional bikes, indoor bikes, and other accessories grew by 75% compared to the same time last year and reached billion for the first time in a single month.Industry experts say commuters abandoning public transportation, gym closures and the search for socially distanced recreation created a perfect storm.Today’s bike boom, they say, is one not seen since the oil crisis of the early 1970s.“Mid to low price bicycles are just wiped out across the country,” said Jay Townley, a consultant with Human Powered Solutions. CAMPO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Crews were able to stop the forward rate of spread after a fast-moving brush fire sparked in Campo Sunday afternoon. According to the agency, the fire started around 1:30 p.m. in the area of I-8 and Old Highway 80. Cal Fire originally said the blaze had a rapid rate of spread with structures threatened. Crews later said the forward rate of spread had been stopped at 1.5 acres.
