(CNN) -- Retired NFL fullback Le'Ron McClain took to Twitter Saturday to plead for help dealing with head and brain troubles he said have resulted from playing football.In a series of emotional and expletive-filled tweets, McClain said his brain is tired and he needs to get his "head checked.""Need to tell my story of how my head is crazy and how football did it," McClain wrote. "Please someone help me get this out the @NFL puts paperwork in out (sic) faces and thats it."Reports show an increasing number of retired NFL players who have suffered repetitive hits to the head have developed memory and cognitive issues such as dementia, Alzheimer's, depression and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). CTE is a degenerative disease of the brain and is associated with repeated head traumas like concussions.The NFL acknowledged a connection between football and CTE for the first time in 2016 and has since rolled out initiatives intended to increase the game's safety and to prevent and treat head injuries.But McClain said he hasn't received the treatment he needs and called on the NFL for help."I have to get my head checked. Playing fullback since high school. Its takes too f*****g much to do anything. My brain is f*****g tired.... @NFL i need some help with this s**t. Dark times and its showing. F*****g help me please!!" McClain tweeted.McClain was a fourth-round pick in the 2007 draft from the University of Alabama. He played seven seasons in the league for the Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego Chargers. Gavin Newsom signed a series of bills on Wednesday aimed at reforming the criminal justice system in California.The series of bills signed by Newsom intends to increase oversight of the criminal justice system, amid nationwide calls for police reform. Newsom and advocates hailed the new laws as first steps in reforming policing in the state.“I hope people recognize we’re moving in the right direction, and again I just recognize we have a lot more work to do in this space and we are not walking away from that responsibility,” Newsom said.The bills signed will enact several reforms including:AB-1196: A ban on arm-based grips, including chokeholds that apply pressure to a person's windpipe, and to carotid holds, which slow the flow of blood to the brain.AB-1506: Requiring the state attorney general to investigate fatal police shootings of unarmed civilians.AB-1185: Allowing county supervisors to create oversight board and inspectors general with subpoena powers over independently elected sheriffs.AB-2542: Suspects could be entitled to new trials or sentences if they can demonstrate racial bias played a role in any part of their case.AB-3070: Allowing judges to assess whether lawyers illegally exclude jurors based on their race.SB-823: Will phase out California's remaining juvenile prisons. (KGTV) - A proposed bill moving through California's legislature would — hopefully — eliminate fears of an awful driver's license photo.SB-1407 would allow drivers to have the ultimate say in their license photo. The bill would let drivers take up to three pictures at the Department of Motor Vehicles and then choose which one they like best.Drivers would also be allowed to have their photo taken outside of the DMV by a pre-approved photography center.RELATED: California DMVs now taking applications for Real ID driver's licenses, identification cardsWhile all of this sounds great for drivers who loathe their license photo, it could come at a cost. The bill says there would be an extra fee for each additional photo but didn't specify how much. That revenue would be put toward driver's education programs at public schools.So far, the bill has passed through the state Senate Transportation Committee Tuesday and has been referred next to the Committee on Appropriations. 1002
