The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says that Sunshine Mills, Inc. has expanded its voluntary recall on dog food to include more products.The products were produced between April 3-5, 2020, and contain an unsafe level of aflatoxin, a toxin produced by the mold Aspergillus flavus, and at high levels, cause illness and death in pets, the FDA said.The products were recalled after a sample contained an unsafe level of aflatoxin was found by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry.The products include Family Pet Meaty Cuts, Heartland Farms, Champ, Field Trial, and Good Dog, distributed across the U.S. at retail stores.If you purchased any of the recalled items, the FDA says that you stop using them, throw them out, or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.You can check to see if your product has been recalled by clicking here. 875

The University of Notre Dame has withdrawn as the host site of the first presidential debate, the university announced on Monday.Notre Dame had been set to host the first presidential debate on Sept. 29.In a statement, the university said it made the decision to withdraw after consultation with the St. Joseph County Health Department and with the unanimous support of the executive committee of the university's board of trustees.The Rev. John Jenkins, president of the University of Notre Dame, made what he called "this difficult decision because the necessary health precautions would have greatly diminished the educational value of hosting the debate on our campus."Notre Dame follows the University of Michigan in opting not to host a debate. The Oct. 15 debate that was originally scheduled to be held in Ann Arbor, Michigan, will be held in Miami instead.In a letter to the campus community, Jenkins said that "the inevitable reduction in student attendance in the debate hall, volunteer opportunities and ancillary educational events undermined the primary benefit of hosting — to provide our students with a meaningful opportunity to engage in the American political process."The Commission on Presidential Debates on Monday announced that the first presidential debate will now be co-hosted by Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Clinic and held at the Health Education Campus in Cleveland.It will be the second CPD-sponsored debate hosted by Case Western Reserve University. The Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine says it has a new use for its bioprinting system. In the past they've 3D printed normal-size organs and tissues in hopes of someday implanting them in patients.For the coronavirus, the lab is creating organs using human cells that can be as small as a pinhead. They're focusing on the organs most likely to be infected by the disease. like the lungs.“And so we've been playing with a number of agents to, on both prongs what can make it more infective, what can make it less infective to try to sort this out for the future,” Anthony Atala, director for the institute said.Atala says he hopes the system will help in testing drugs before they hit the market.Drug companies do extensive testing and clinical trials in people before releasing a new medication.Atala says sometimes those companies find no serious side effects, but then years later, discover that it's toxic to patients taking it. Atala says testing a drug using the bioprinting system can tell if a drug is toxic in weeks instead of after years on the market.“Even though we've used the tool extensively for toxicity testing, it's also a tool that can be used for screening,” Atala said. “So we can test agents that are currently being considered for testing against COVID and test the efficacy of the treatment on miniature human organs made up of normal cells”To be clear, Atala said drug tests on 3D printer organs are not meant to replace clinical trials in humans, be are an added step to better predict what will happen in those trials. 1567
