BURBANK, Calif. (AP) — Traffic was backed up for miles for thousands of drivers Friday night on a busy Los Angeles-area freeway after a chase that lasted well over an hour and saw the driver repeatedly back into police cruisers.At one point after backing into a cruiser, the man gestured from his window with what appeared to be a knife.The man drove onto Interstate 5 in Burbank the wrong way, eventually passed a police barrier and rammed into several cars before stopping.Police evacuated drivers from their cars while they had their guns trained on the car. The driver eventually got out. It appeared that officers used a stun gun on him, prompting him to get back into the car.A standoff pursued and eventually ended after the man got out of the car, laid down for a while and tried to run away. Caesars Entertainment Corporation announced plans Wednesday to bring a non-gaming Caesars Palace resort to beach-front property along the coast of Puerto Los Cabos, Mexico. The 0 million luxury beachfront hotel will be developed by Grupo Questro. Caesars Entertainment will manage the property and receive a licensing and management fee. It is set to break ground in early 2019. The non-gaming luxury beachfront hotel will feature 500 rooms and suites, a 40,000-square foot convention center, a 25,000-square foot full-service spa, three fine dining restaurants, an array of amenities including an entertainment venue, pools, cabanas, fitness center, tennis courts and access to the two signature golf courses. The beach-front property will be situated in the Puerto Los Cabos Tourist Corridor and the San Jose del Cabo resort city on the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula.The announcement of the Puerto Los Cabos project follows last week’s announcement that Caesars Entertainment will manage two luxury hotels and a beach club at Meraas’ Dubai-based Bluewaters Island development. In late 2018, Bluewaters Island is expected to become home to Caesars Palace Bluewaters Dubai and Caesars Bluewaters Dubai -- both of which will represent Caesars Entertainment’s first non-gaming resorts. In addition to the projects in Puerto Los Cabos and Dubai, Caesars Entertainment has announced plans to build a meeting and conference center in Las Vegas and has broken ground on a new Harrah’s-branded casino in Northern California. 1559

Cardi B and her sister Hennessy Carolina are facing a defamation lawsuit after the rapper posted a video on social media accusing a group of Long Island beachgoers of being racists.The video was taken on Sept. 6 at Smith Point Beach in Suffolk County, according to the plaintiffs' attorney. It shows Carolina and her girlfriend, Michelle Diaz, involved in an expletive-filled spat with three people who are supporters of President Donald Trump.Cardi B shared the video with her massive social media following and accused the group of being racists who attacked her sister and Diaz.Now, the people on the other end of the video are suing the rapper for defamation, claiming Cardi and company attacked them.Attorney John Ray, who represents the plaintiffs, said his clients were enjoying a beach day with their families when Carolina came running up the beach toward them.“Hennessy Carolina suddenly approached them, raging, spitting, insulting, assaulting, defaming and threatening them, all the while videotaping them, because one of them wore a MAGA hat,” Ray said in a statement. “Then Hennessy, Cardi B and celebrity model Michelle Diaz deviously edited the videotape and published the edited version all over social media, across the world for all to see, and maliciously falsely labeled these residents and their families as ‘N…s’ and as racists.”The video was posted by Cardi B several weeks ago during a heated social media war between the rapper and conservative media personality Candice Owens.In the caption she posted along with the video, Cardi B said her sister and Diaz were being harassed because they are “an Afro/Hispanic gay couple.”However, the beachgoers painted a different picture of the incident during a news conference Tuesday detailing the lawsuit.Peter and Pauline Caliendo, of Moriches, and Manuel Alarcon, of Middle Island, said Carolina got in their faces, cursed and threatened them repeatedly after they asked Diaz to move a vehicle that was blocking other cars.Peter Caliendo and Alarcon said the video affected their careers, and Pauline Caliendo said she has had to defend herself to her family and friends.While the Caliendos had a Trump flag on their beach tent and Alarcon had a Make America Great Again hat on, all three insisted they are not racist or homophobic and that the incident had nothing to do with the president or race.“Anyone who knows us knows we’re not racist or homophobes,” Peter Caliendo said.Police were called to the scene, according to Ray, but the women had left before officers arrived on the scene. A police report was filed, Alarcon said.The lawsuit alleges that the video was created and posted online in an attempt to advance their careers. Michael Regner from his post as commanding officer of Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit ``due to a loss in trust and confidence in his ability to command'' following the sinking of an assault amphibious vehicle about 80 miles west of Encinitas.``Although the command investigation (into the accident) has compiled a substantial amount of information and data which formed the basis for Heckl's decision, it is still ongoing as the Marine Corps continues to investigate, assess all relevant information and take appropriate actions,'' I MEF public affairs advised in a prepared statement.The amphibious troop-transport vehicle carrying the Camp Pendleton- based personnel -- seven Marines and a Navy sailor, ranging in age from 18 to 22 -- foundered for unknown reasons about 5:45 p.m. July 30 during a maritime training mission and went down in water nearly 400 feet deep.
