President Donald Trump appeared to endorse Goya food products in an Instagram post on Wednesday, days after comments at the White House from the company's CEO prompted calls for a boycott of the maker of several Latin American staple foods. The photo, posted to Trump's official Instagram account, shows Trump smiling and flashing a thumbs up from the Oval Office as several Goya products sit atop the Resolute Desk. It's the second time Trump has used his Instagram page to promote Goya. On Friday, Trump posted a graphic that simply read "I ?? Goya." 558

President Donald Trump said his departing chief economic adviser Gary Cohn could someday return to his administration after making several hundred more million dollars."He may be a globalist, but I still like him," Trump said of Cohn, who was sitting in the room and announced earlier this week he is resigning as director of the National Economic Council. "He is seriously a globalist, there is no question. But in his own way he's a nationalist because he loves our country."Cohn received a hearty applause from the Cabinet.  540

President Donald Trump is ordering the expulsion of 60 Russian diplomats and the closure of the Russian consulate in Seattle, Washington, in the wake of the UK nerve agent attack, the White House announced Monday. The President is taking the action in response to the poisonings of a former Russian double agent and his daughter in England, the administration announced.Forty-eight of the diplomats work at the Russian embassy and a dozen at the United Nations in New York. They and their families will have seven days to leave the country."The United States takes this action in conjunction with our NATO allies and partners around the world in response to Russia's use of military grade chemical weapons on the soil of the United Kingdom, the latest in this ongoing pattern of destabilizing activities around the world," White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said.In December 2016, the US expelled 35 Russian diplomats in response to Russian meddling in the 2016 US presidential election.  1007

President Donald Trump is "somewhat embarrassed" by special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election, White House chief of staff John Kelly says.In an interview on NPR's "Morning Edition" that was released late Thursday, Kelly was asked whether the special counsel's probe leaves a cloud hanging over the White House."It may not be a cloud, but certainly the President is somewhat embarrassed, frankly," Kelly said.Kelly also seemed to suggest that the Russia investigation affects Trump's relationship with other world leaders."When world leaders come in -- you know Bibi Netanyahu who was here and who's under investigation himself -- and it's like you walk in and you know the first couple of minutes of every conversation might revolve around that kind of thing," Kelly said, using the nickname for the Israeli Prime Minister who is under investigation in two separate criminal probes. When asked if he shares the President's opinion that the Mueller probe is a "witch hunt," Kelly said, "Something that has gone on this long without any real meat on the bone, it suggests to me that there is nothing there, relative to our President."A retired four-star Marine general, Kelly took over as Trump's chief of staff for Reince Priebus last July, hoping to bring order to a chaotic White House. But he has seen his influence diminish in recent months as Trump has started to bypass Kelly."In retrospect, I wish I had been here from day one," Kelly told NPR. "I think in some cases, in terms of staffing or serving the President, that first six months was pretty chaotic and there were people some people hired that maybe shouldn't have hired some people." 1703

President Donald Trump lashed out at California Gov. Jerry Brown on Thursday, insisting that his administration won't pay for the state's National Guard deployment unless the troops help enforce US immigration laws at the border."Governor Jerry Brown announced he will deploy 'up to 400 National Guard Troops' to do nothing," Trump tweeted. "The crime rate in California is high enough, and the Federal Government will not be paying for Governor Brown's charade. We need border security and action, not words!"Later Thursday, Trump tweeted more about immigration policy."Sanctuary Cities released at least 142 Gang Members across the United States, making it easy for them to commit all forms of violent crimes where none would have existed. We are doing a great job of law enforcement, but things such as this make safety in America difficult!"Trump's tweets comes less than 24 hours after Brown, a Democrat, agreed to send more National Guard troops to the US-Mexico border. Brown said that the mission would be limited."Let's be crystal clear on the scope of this mission," Brown said. "This will not be a mission to build a new wall. It will not be a mission to round up women and children or detain people escaping violence and seeking a better life. And the California National Guard will not be enforcing federal immigration laws."Trump's comments seemingly contradict an earlier tweet from Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen."Just spoke w @JerryBrownGov about deploying the @USNationalGuard in California," Nielsen wrote on Wednesday. "Final details are being worked out but we are looking forward to the support. Thank you Gov Brown!"Asked for comment on Trump's tweet, Brown's office pointed to Nielsen's comments. 1757
