SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego County officials say they are taking additional steps regarding employers linked to outbreaks.Supervisor Nathan Fletcher said the county will update its public health order to state "entities shall notify employees of an outbreak that occurred at a physical location where they work."Fletcher added that the county believes most businesses are acting responsibly and notifying employees. He said that the county wants to make sure that employers are notifying every employee at the specific location an outbreak has been traced to, even if they may not have had close contact with a positive case.RELATED: San Diego County health officials warn local churches about holding indoor servicesThose employees will then be given instructions suggesting the next steps to take. The new order will be effective starting Thursday.Wednesday, the county reported 24 active community outbreaks, which is more than three times the county's trigger of seven community outbreaks in a week. The move was announced in addition to other measures to increase public health order compliance, including a compliance hotline and email, additional staff for egregious violations, outbreak inspections, and follow-up inspections.RELATED: San Diego based company behind rapid COVID saliva test“We’re in the process of setting up a health compliance hotline and email access,” said Supervisor Nathan Fletcher. “We’re bringing on additional staff to increase our ability to respond to those egregious cases those willful, blatant violations.”Fletcher said more information would be discussed at the County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday.“The current compliance effort really focuses on number one, the egregious cases we’ve seen. These are willful, blatant situations of defiance of public health orders,” said Fletcher. “We’ve issued three public health orders for closures we’ve issued three cease and desist letters.”San Diego County remains on the state’s watch list, meaning businesses were forced to close indoor operations due to the rise in COVID-19 cases and outbreaks.RELATED: County confirms coronavirus outbreak at Pacific Beach gymWhile some moved operations outside, others failed to comply. County officials learned of a COVID-19 outbreak reported at The Gym in Pacific Beach this week. Last week, Dr. Wilma Wooten, the county’s public health officer, sent a letter to The Gym asking for the immediate closure of indoor operations. The Gym continued to operate in violation of state and local health orders, according to the letter. Also, patrons were not wearing facial covering or social distancing, and that did not appear to be a requirement by the owners or operators, according to the letter.Wednesday, The Gym was closed to patrons. 2768

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police Officers are patrolling the College Area, cracking down on noise and health order violations as San Diego teeters on the edge of the red tier for coronavirus restrictions.Friday eight cease and desist orders were issued to College Area houses. The reason being the residence "intends to hold large gatherings on Oct. 30, 2020, - Nov. 1, 2020, in blatant violation of the Order of the State Health Officer, the County Order of the Health Officer and Emergency Regulations, and CDPH's October 9, 2020 gathering guidance."Saturday on Dorothy Drive near Dorothy Way it was easy to hear music, excited yelling, and chatter from multiple homes. A steady stream of young people came and left various houses.Normally, Jean Hoeger says it gets pretty wild, but when she went out Friday, "it was pretty quiet you didn't see the hoards of kids walking on the street which is kinda common in the College Area."Hoeger is a representative of the College Area Public Safety Committee."There were parties but they all seemed to be inside small groups, loud noise was not really present so nothing you could call into the police department for a noise disturbance," Hoeger said. She said she was proud the students seem to be abiding by the rules, saying, "If they're partying inside their houses with their little group of friends that's fabulous!"Hoeger said huge parties are the most "disconcerting to us any time of the year because it's just disruptive to the whole neighborhood, when they leave most of them are drunk and unfortunately a lot of sexual assaults happen."Any San Diego State students found violating the university's Stay Home order, which lasts through Monday, Nov. 2 at 6 a.m., could face disciplinary action, up to expulsion.Since Aug. 24, SDSU has issued nearly 970 violations, according to a statement from the university."They should be afraid of the consequences of their actions, whether related to COVID or in regards to the San Diego Municipal Code with regard to noise," Hoeger said.Violating the cease and desist orders could result in a misdemeanor offense and a ,000 fine. 2135

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego may be America's Finest City, but when it comes to parking around town, the experience is not always a pleasant one. "It's horrific," said Shadrach Vaughn the founder of Park Connect. Vaughn recently launched Park Connect in July. The company's goal is to help connect homeowners or businesses who have empty parking spots, with people who need them. The owner or business can list their spot on the Park Connect website, and select a daily, monthly or hourly rate. Giving the host the flexibility to decide what to charge for their spot. RELATED: Making It In San Diego complete coverage"One day I thought, like how about an Airbnb for parking?" Vaughn said. Sara Ghodsi, one of Park Connect users, has her empty spot listed for  an hour, a day, or 0 for the entire month. And in two months, she says she has made 0. "This spot is always open. I figured I might as well get some type of income coming in." Ghodsi said. As long as people continue to hit the beaches and streets of San Diego, Vaughn says, he will continue to help people fill their parking spots and their pockets. Vaughn said, "San Diego is expensive, right? So for anyone an extra 0 a month, 0 a month, I would like that. I'm just happy to be part of it."For more information on Park Connect, check out their website here. 1414

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police Homicide investigators and Crime Stoppers asked for the public’s help Thursday to solve the mystery of an unidentified boy whose skeletal remains were found on a Rancho Bernardo hiking trail in 2004.Two hikers found the 2 to 4-year-old boy, called “Baby Doe” by police.  Forensic testing showed the boy was born between 1999 and 2001, and had features “consistent with being mostly Caucasian”, according to investigators. The boy also had light to medium brown hair.Police said isotopic testing indicates the boy was born on the mainland United States. His mother likely lived in the southeastern part of the country for part of her pregnancy and the first year of the boy’s life before they moved west, investigators said.Anyone with information is asked to call Lt. Matt Dobbs at 619-531-2425 or email mdobbs@pd.sandiego.gov. 876
