Lowe's will host two pandemics friendly drive-thru curbside trick-or-treat events at all its locations the week of Halloween.The home improvement company announced they would host the events on Oct. 22 and Oct. 29 from 6-7 p.m."We know that customers still want to celebrate Halloween, even if the holiday may look different for us this year. While the pandemic has changed many elements of everyday life, the tradition of trick-or-treating doesn't have to be one of them," said Joe McFarland, Lowe's executive vice president of stores, in the press release. McDonald's announced it's tripling the amount of scholarship money it's offering to its employees to help them get a college degree.Eligible crew members can receive up to ,500 per year and managers can make up to ,000 a year, up from 0 and ,050 respectively.One of the workers who has taken advantage of the program is Jackie Southam from Henderson, Nevada. She's been working at McDonalds for the past 8 years.During that time, she's risen to become a manager, and she's also gotten help from McDonald's to earn a bachelor's degree from Nevada State in biology with a minor in chemistry.With the additional funding increase, she's planning to go back this fall and pursue a master's degree in public health.Her goal is to become an epidemiologist and work for the Centers for Disease Control.She says she's had to pay her entire way through school working two jobs, and the scholarship from McDonald's helped her get through.Right now, UNLV costs around ,100 a semester for state residents, and the College of Southern Nevada is around ,400, plus other costs like books and transportation.McDonald's isn't alone though. Working for several other large companies can also help you get assistance with tuition. Best Buy, Walmart, Verizon, and Bank of America all offer similar types of help.  1333

Andy Beshear and state public health officials.The Derby is set to take place on Saturday, Sept. 5 after being postponed from its original date, Saturday, May 2.Churchill Downs says its plan was developed in conjunction with advice and counsel from the Louisville Metro Health Department and Kentucky’s Healthy at Work guidance.Some of the steps that will be taken to ensure guest and employee safety include:Venue capacity reductions to limit overall crowd density, including general admission, outdoor reserved seating, premium dining and suites. More information on ticketing and seating areas will be released in the coming days and also will be sent directly to ticket holders.Access throughout the facility will be severely limited.Credentials for employees, media and guests will be reduced.Barn area access will be restricted to essential personnel.
