SAN DIEGO (CNS) - UC San Diego Health is opening a new clinic Monday in the Carmel Valley neighborhood.The 8,700-square-foot clinic, located at 6030 Village Way, will offer primary care and women's health services, according to UCSD Health. X-ray services and express care will be added to the clinic in 2021."Like all of our clinics, the Pacific Highland Ranch clinic is designed to support appropriate physical distancing, said UCSD Health Physician Group CEO Dr. Christopher Kane. "Patients can check in for an appointment and pay any copays using a contact-free option at a guest kiosk or with a mobile application."Walk-ins will be accepted at the clinic, which will be open eight hours a day, seven days a week, to address common health needs, including coughs, colds and simple fractures or sprains.In 2019, UCSD Health opened a clinic in Encinitas -- which offers pediatrics, primary care and express care -- and a clinic in Eastlake offering primary care, express care and imaging capabilities.UCSD Health also opened a clinic in the Rancho Bernardo area in 2018 that offers urgent care, advanced imaging, an optical boutique, primary care, women's health, occupational medicine, behavioral health, cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology and a retail pharmacy open to the public.Flu immunizations are also available at all clinics for the 2020-2021 flu season.An annual flu vaccine is especially important this year with flu season coinciding with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, according to UCSD Health. 1522

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego leaders returned from their trip to Mexico City on Wednesday night. The three-day trip focused on building stronger border relations. The trip comes a week after President Trump threatened to close the border if congress didn't come up with an immigration deal or if Mexico didn't stop migrants heading north. The delegation included San Diego and Imperial Beach mayors, Kevin Faulconer and Serge Dedina and former mayor Jerry Sanders. Several city council members from various cities also attended meeting with top Mexican officials. A big topic of conversation was the ongoing Tijuana sewage issue. Impeiral Beach Mayor, Dedina, says the conversations were positive and promising. Dedina says plans to fix the issue include reapairing the water plant that's currently spilling the sewage, taking all of the water out of the Tijuana River Valley and putting an earth-fill dam on the Mexican side to stop the sewage from getting to the beaches. San Diego leaders say the trip was productive and explained that the end goal was to find solutions to enhance the region for the benefit of both countries. 1142

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - "It's not fair and it's not right," says Warren Peters of Spring Valley. He says he's been watching his son, Jahmes, spend several months fighting for his federal tax return. "People need this money. People have worked for this money. People have earned this money," says 24 year-old Jahmes.The young man tells Team 10 that he filed online in February and received his state refund, but not his federal refund. It's now been more than 7 months. A return summary shows he's owed almost ,200 from the IRS.Jahmes says he's between jobs and burning through his savings. His father tries to help but says he's retired and on a fixed income, so his means are limited."It doesn't feel too good depending on your dad at 24-years-old," Jahmes tells Team 10. Jahmes says he has repeatedly called, emailed and written to the IRS. He adds he was once asked to appear in-person to verify identity, which he says he completed. However, he says his efforts didn't yield clear answers from the IRS.On the IRS website, he showed us what he says is his filing status. "Your tax return is still being processed," is what it reads. "If the circumstances were different, [the IRS] would be knocking on [our] door looking for their money," says Warren Peters. "The IRS is just understaffed and overworked," says tax attorney Ronson Shamoun, CEO of Downtown San Diego's RJS Law Firm. He says long delays are not uncommon. "Yet, after it's been so long, there should be some indication as to what's going on or some sort of game plan as to what you can do."Shamoun says the best route to take is contacting the Taxpayer Advocate Service, which was created by Congress to facilitate aid for taxpayers dealing with related issues. The IRS website reports that most refunds are issued in less than 21 calendar days, but explains there are a number of reasons for delays, including possible errors, incomplete returns, and concerns about identity theft or fraud.  The IRS says it cannot respond to media inquiries about specific cases."He does have a right to be upset. He definitely does," says Shamoun. The Taxpayer Advocate Service can be reached https://taxpayeradvocate.irs.gov/   2371

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A European carrier is hoping to transform the way Southern California travels between major cities.FlixBus will start offering service to 10 Southern California cities, including in San Diego, beginning May 31. The service, which has operated within Europe since 2013, is hoping to carve out a presence with discounted ticket prices and some high-tech additions.For a limited time, travelers can snag fares from Los Angeles to Las Vegas for as low as on select dates throughout June, according to the service's website. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A controversial retirement center proposed by Skyline Church is moving ahead following a San Diego Planning Commission vote Friday.Officials voted five to one in favor of advancing to the development to the next step.Church officials are looking to build the retirement center in the Valle De Oro neighborhood. It would be located on almost nine acres next to Skyline Church. The 232 units would be made up of independent and assistant living spaces. The facility would also have a walking trail, offices, a pool, and clinics.Those who are in support of this plan say it’s needed because of the growing aging community in the San Diego County. "This application is more than just a request. It’s asking the County’s permission to serve our community, by seeking your permission for this retirement center," said Pastor Dan Grant of Skyline Church.Opponents say this will cause traffic problems in an already congested location along I-94 just East of Via Mercado. They add, this would be a huge environmental impact on the area.Now that the Planning Commission has agreed to move forward, they will bring this recommendation to the Board of Supervisors. 1180
