(KGTV) - A Disney cruise ship employee was sentenced Tuesday to 15 months in prison for wire fraud in an effort to embezzle the Walt Disney Company out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.Renan Dias Da Rocha Gomes, 32, who worked aboard the Disney Wonder cruise ship, admitted to accessing an online payment system while working as a merchandise host in stores aboard the ship.Gomes said he made about 0,000 in unauthorized charges to Disney's bank account and loaded the money onto Disney gift cards.RELATED: Ex-Disney Cruise worker accused of embezzling over 5K from DisneyWhile investigating Gomes' cabin on the cruise ship, officials said they found 217 gift cards, a stolen watch, and ,240 in cash. He also admitted to spending about ,700 of the embezzled funds by taking his family on a Disney World vacation, spending thousands on lodging, food, drinks, entertainment, and merchandise.Gomes was arrested in San Diego on Oct. 27, 2017. He will have to pay Walt Disney restitution in the amount he stole and forfeit the watch and cash seized upon his arrest, officials said.Gomes, a Brazilian national, was working on the ship with a temporary visa. (KGTV) - A San Diego man was arrested Sunday afternoon after police say he stabbed two classmates during a reenactment of a movie scene at the University of Hartford in Connecticut.The man, identified as Jake Wascher, 21, was in an on-campus apartment with two male classmates when the stabbing occurred."A 21 year old male suffered one puncture wound to the chest and four to the back. A second victim a 19 year old male suffered from a single puncture wound to the chest as well as a puncture wound to the back," Lieutenant Paul Cicero with Hartford Police said.Wascher attended the Coronado School of the Arts, a pre-professional arts education program on Coronado High School's campus. His Facebook page states he graduated in 2016.10News spoke with a former student of CoSA, who worked as a tech for a year."CoSA is really a mostly just a bunch of nerds, all of the acting kids and music students, just dorks really," Christian Molenaar said. "I feel like most people aren't worried about getting stabbed in high school theater," he said.Molenaar was shocked when he learned of the events that unfolded Sunday, saying his younger sister graduated the same year as Wascher.Police say Wascher fled the crime scene and hid in a nearby wooded area, then gave himself up. (KGTV) — A Fresno man died after not long after taking part in a taco-eating contest at a Minor League Baseball game Tuesday.Dana Hutchings, 41, died shortly after arriving at a hospital following the contest at a Fresno Grizzlies game Tuesday, according to Fresno County Sheriff's Office.ABC-affiliate KFSN reported Hutchings was taken from Chukchansi Park by an ambulance where he had just competed in a taco-eating contest before the game started. According to the Associated Press, a witness said Hutchings appeared to be eating much faster than the other two contestants, swallowing tacos without chewing them.The witness added that Hutchings collapsed about seven minutes into the contest and hit his face on the table as he fell to the ground, the AP said.A cause of death has not been released. Fresno sheriff's spokesman Tony Botti told reporters an autopsy will be performed Wednesday. Botti added that paramedics had to clear Hutchings' airway of food when he was transported, but it wasn't clear how many he had eaten.According to the AP, the Grizzlies has canceled the World Taco Eating Championship scheduled for Saturday at the annual Taco Truck Throwdown. Gavin Newsom on Monday announced updated guidance for hair and nail salons and barbershops in California that would allow those businesses to shift their operations outdoors amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.Last week, Newsom announced the shutdown of indoor operations, including beauty services, as COVID-19 cases across the state increased.In the days following Newsom’s order, restaurants were able to move dining outdoors, but barbershops and hair/nail salons were not able to do work outside.During a Monday press briefing, Newsom said the state updated its regulations for barbershops and hair salons for when they are moved outdoors.Some of the guidelines include:-- Face coverings required for employees and customers during service; workers should also have access to face shields, gloves and other personal protective equipment-- Outdoor operations must be under a tent, canopy or other sun shelter as long as no more than one side is closed, allowing sufficient outdoor air movement-- Temperature screenings for employees; screenings recommended for customers upon arrival-- Businesses should confirm customer appointments in advance and ask if a customer or someone in their household exhibits COVID-19 symptoms-- Stagger appointments to reduce customer congestion at business; this will also give business time to clean/sanitize-- Recommended expansion of operating hours to space out customer appointments-- Suspend walk-in visits-- Frequently disinfect commonly used surfaces and workstations-- Clean and disinfect all electrical and non-electrical tools-- Ensure any outdoor shade or outdoor working area has the same ventilation and airflow as the outdoors-- Have designated outdoor area for customers to waitClick here to view the state’s complete guidance sheet for hair salons and barbershops.For nail salons, some of the guidelines for operating outdoors include:-- Clients will be asked to apply hand sanitizer before nail services-- Employees should wear face shield with face covering when performing service on client’s face or neck areas (when he/she is not wearing face covering)-- Clients won’t be allowed to have a manicure and pedicure on the same visit-- Workers must have disposable gloves when performing services-- Businesses will have to evaluate if plastic partitions can be used between employees and clients; implement social distancing of workstationsClick here to view the state’s complete guidance sheet for nail salons and other personal care services, including massage therapy. 2549
