SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego State University warned students Monday about a man who exposed himself to a person at a campus parking structure. The incident happened just after noon Sunday at Parking 1, 5300 College Blvd., SDSU officials said. “The suspect began touching himself inappropriately and then fled northbound toward Alvarado Road,” according to a news release. University officials said the man is in his mid-20s, and Hispanic with dark hair and a tan complexion. He is around 5’7” to 5’8” with an average build. Officials say he was clean-shaven and wearing a black baseball cap, dark or gray shirt, and black pants. Anyone with information was asked to call University Police at 619-594-1991. 714

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Some families scrambling to deal with the challenges of distance learning will be getting some help from an unlikely source.For La Jolla High junior Katie Frost, 16, the upcoming school year will be a busy one. She's on the school's track team and JV basketball squad. Along with the usual coarse load, she will be taking college entrance exams. Frost has just added something else to her plate."During these times, people should think of ways to push themselves outside their comfort zone to help," said Frost.Keenly aware of how families are juggling the challenges served up with distance learning, Frost decided to offer free zoom tutoring sessions in math and English for local elementary and middle school students."I know how difficult school can be. I struggled in elementary school ... With the added stresses of distance learning, I'm just want to do my part to help these families and to help the kids excel," said Frost.Frost posted her services on the Nextdoor app, even put out an application. She already has four kids signed up and that number is expected to grow. Depending on the response, she could recruit her friends to create a tutoring club to help more families. Frost says she hopes other teens will also step up and volunteer their time tutoring as well."Instead of thinking of these times as a pause, you can think of it as a time you can change your life and the lives of others. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Sitting in the heart of San Diego, Mission Trails Regional Park has 65 miles of trails, as well as boating and picnic areas. You might call it a hikers and bikers paradise, as it provides eight thousand acres of pure outdoor enjoyment for more than two million visitors each year. "Mission Trails Regional Park is one of the largest urban parks in the country," says Jennifer Morrissey, the Executive Director of the Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation.Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit in mid-March, the park has seen a big increase in visitors, which is great. But it has also created a few problems. "Because we have so many more people," says Morrissey, "we are seeing that there is more wear and tear on the trails."Prior to the pandemic, some of the park's hundreds of volunteers would help maintain the trails. But for the time being, that program has been suspended. "Unfortunately, we don't have volunteers at the park right now. They do everything, from helping on the trails, to staffing the visitors center, to beautification projects. So right now, within the park, there is a lot of work that needs to be done."That work takes money. And that is why Morrissey says 'Giving Tuesday' is the most important fundraiser of the year.
